As a furloughed pilot I was wondering what is the attitude out on the line about picking up open time/extra flying while there are guys on the street. On another thread I read several comments from pilots who picked up flying over and above their line value.....Thanks for help guys.

Out almost two years with no hope of returning soon

hmmmm?

I hope you mean that pilots from airlines with guys on the street should not pick up any extra flying. If you mean ALL pilots should not pick up extra flying while there are furloughees on the street, I think you are reaching a bit far. Do you mean that if any outfit has at least one dude on the street the industry should stop picking up open time? If that is the case, many airlines have furloughed and failed in history... you are asking a lot.

That being said... If my airline had people on the street, I would feel a bit guilty picking up open time.

Puking my guts out!

It sickens me to see people on the street and their fellow crew-members out there xhoring the overtime. I only wish these scum could switch places and wonder where their next months paycheck is coming from. For those of you layed off...the best of luck. Remember how it felt to hear stories of "fellow" pilots picking up extra time. Someday the shoe will probably be on the other foot; I hope you don't fly one hour above your guarantee. To all the fellow crewmembers currently not at your former position...press on. Keep updating your JB app! And if you are one of those aforementioned xhores...shame on you! You suck...and you know who you are!

Totally agree!

I don't see much difference between those who pick up extra trips while their fellow crew members are furloughed and a scab.

The day after my first furlough the CP sent out an e-mail to the entire pilot group asking for OT in all seats. He "forgot" to delete the furloughees from his mail list, so you can imagine how hot that made us. But even worse was the rush of whores calling in to scheduling to pick up the extra time. As far as I'm concerned they should all FOAD and rot in .....!

I don't either, although I won't call anyone a SCAB unless he crossed a picket line.

At Spirit, we have a few scumbags who are flying ever possible OT day that they can... We still have 22 furloughed pilots. I wish that we could stop the OT, but there is no legal way to do so. Hopefully we will recall all 22 soon and get over this chapter of our history. In the meantime, the OT ho's are proving their lack of class.
