Does anyone know if the Transcribed Weather Broadcast (TWEB) still exists? I read an article online from AOPA that referred to them as obsolete with only a few remaining in the west, and that article was from 1997. If they do exist, bonus points for anyone who can identify for me a VOR that has one. Thanks.

They certainly still exist in printed form--you can see them at http://aviationweather.gov/products/nws/twebs/ . And they are still listed in the current text we use for our aviation weather classes at CCSN.

Obsolete? Probably. They don't have icing or turbulence forecast sections and since I'm reading the FAs anyway I never bothered with looking at the TWEBs. I haven't flown in quite a while, so someone else will get to take your bonus TWEBs-on-VORs points. :)

Anchorage VOR ANC
Kenai VOR ENA
Wildwood NDB IWW
Cambell Lake NDB CMQ
Homer VOR HOM

want me to keep going?

A Squared, thanks! Second bonus point - do they exist in the lower 48?
Kawasumi - I didn't know they were in written form, considering the accronym for TWEB seems to imply a Broadcast. Thanks for the info.

Pykla NDB DL (Duluth, MN)
Princeton NDB PNM (princeton MN)
Raize NDB IN (INternational Falls MN)
Narco NDB MS (Minneapolis mn)

Those are the only ones I was able to dig up.

I don't know of any VORs with TWEB in the lower 48

mcallester vor in oklahoma had it when i did my private solo xc back in 02

Thanks guys! I found the ones in MN, which is what I wanted to do - find a TWEB on a chart I own. So they do exist down here! Guess I can't put a big X through that section of the book yet :)

Kream - McCallister now has a HIWAS, but no TWEB. Thanks, though.
