my wife is japanese and i would really like to fly there. i see some dash 8 stuff but besides that...is it possible to actually build a career there, bottom up? i have about 800 hrs and fly for a small outfit now. i:m ready to make the career move soon into a jet i hope and am wondering if anyone can give advise on what the next best move should be. should i just figure i:ll upgrade to crj/erj capt in a zillion years and then try for a 737 co/p position? any advise is welcome.
i don:t mind flying a dash 8 to make a salary and live where i want to, but i:m afraid to put all my eggs in that basket....meaning, i:m hoping to upgrade to a jet from my piston and i:m hopeing for no props. should i try and get a job flying props in hopes of flying a dash 8 in japan????? is that worth the risk??
help.

Leasing companies do hire for Saab 340s, Dash 8s, ATRs, CRJ, ERJ, E170, etc. That said, I wouldn't try to target a particular type based on jobs that may be available in Japan. Follow a normal career path at least until you get 1000 hours PIC Part 121 if the airlines are what you are targeting. That is when the opportunities start opening up.

You would probably get that 1000 PIC faster if you didn't have the attitude against props. Take the best job that will get you to 1000 PIC the fastest. If it's a jet then so be it, but if it's a prop I wouldn't turn it down.
