Before 9-11, USA Jet pilots were almost hired over the phone by NJ

ummm no they weren't.

Yes they were Diesel, notice "almost" was in the quote. They did have to interview and fill out an application after the phone call. Most are still there and althought they are gone from home more than 132 hours per month like at USA Jet, they seem to like it.

That is because they enjoy getting paid for what they do and as an added bonus they probably don't worry as much about seasonal layoffs!

tk855, they are proably making less than they would be making if they had stayed at their old job. They would all be DC-9 Captains in the $100K+ range. But that is not the big part of the picture. If they like what they do now, good for them that is all that most of us seek. Everyone has a choice and they make the one thay think is best for them.

No they aren't! If they were hired pre 9/11 as you insinuate in your earlier post, they are making well over 100k at bare minimum. A five year captain on the Beechjet makes 106,000 base on the reserve schedule.

tk. yes they may be making more now, but you forget the years between 9-11 and your new contract where they worked for less than they would have if they stayed at their old job.
