For the DL/NW Pilots.

Has anyone read Proposal 08-37? I have been unable to find the actual document. But in a nutshell from what has been passed down, it is proposal to allow part-time flying for those wishing to fly past 60 on a part time basis. Anyone else have more info?

I have received several letters from fellow NW pilots to call ALPA in objection to the 08-37 proposal.

10 pages easy.....

He is more worried about DAL furloughing and guys going down to DCI to fly the 76 seat jets.

I have had a few DCI guys stop me and talk to me about what the actual provision in the PWA means for the likes of EV, OH etc.

All I know is I bid reserve this month to get a few specific days off and hoping for some rest, and you would think I was the only one available a lot of the time! I flew my a$$ off, and our domicile is short even with the reduced schedule. This summer should be interesting unless they pull back, move pilots out of larger aircraft, or hire.

As to a possible furlough? I am not sure who they could let go unless they have a significant pull down or shifting of flying to RJ's which from what I can tell is the opposite of what is going on at the feeders.

Ummm, okay, what does the PWA mean for ASA? Thoughts?

Senior pilots are pushing this so they can fly part time beyond 60 and still collect their 150K pension. This way they have an incentive to stick around and not retire as they currently are not making much beyond what their pension will yield.

Look at the bright side:
1. Senior pilots can cherry pick a couple trips a month and continue their breakfast club at Narita.
2. Senior pilots would NOT RETIRE at near the rate they will under current conditions do to limited monetary value to continue working.
3. These provisions would only be for 60+ pilots and not the whole pilot group.
4. All junior pilots can enjoy even less ATTRITION.
5. The senior guys can fill their piggy banks quicker while junior pilots get to cheer them on from the lines of stagnation!

I can't imagine this one going to far, unless no one is watching.

Yeah TB I do not see this one going too far. Not by a long shot. We need attrition and they know it. It is the only way to right the injustices that each side feels though out the awarded list. Stagnation will only keep these wounds open.

As I said in the other part-time flying thread, everybody needs to ensure that this doesn't go anywhere by contacting your reps and letting your opinion be known.

Don't assume anything.
