Yes a sad crash indeed. I have a lot of time flying jumpers...sounds like the victims in this crash were highly experienced in the skydiving industry.
I have been on vacation down by the North Carolina, Virginia border for over a week and last sat or sunday they had a plane from the ALL ATPs crash in North Carolina. Two female pilots getting some training and an instructor from all ATP's and a dog. It's not related to your post, but that crash came to mind when I saw your post tonight.
I'm about an hour away from Pittsburgh, but the airport I fly out of is on the same frequency as Greensburgh-Jeanette. I hear them on the radio ALL the time. Weather was very nice today. CNN has a pic. http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/South/06/15/skydiving.crash/index.html
dang...a 205? even a nice 206 climbs like dog with it's bigger engine and three bladed prop. I had a skydiving buddy that owned a 205 for personal use and that was a nice plane, but I would have never considered it to be a good jump ship. I think they come stock with an IO 270.

It isn't a very good jump ship. It took a long time to get up to 9000, and some days it wouldn't even go that high. I think you meant it came with an IO 470.
There used to be a turbocharged C 205 in upstate NY a few years back--I've seen it go to 21000' with the pilot & 4 jumpers. Let me modify that a little. 2 of them got out about 10000' & the other 2 at 21000'. This was in Greene, NY.
