Currently I'm flying for a regional, but have had a revelation that I want to fly corporate. I currently live in Indiana, and wanna get it out big time! I've been to the DFW area several times with my gf, she's from there, and long term we're looking to move down there. Rather than commuting I would like to get in the corporate world. I've planned on spending a few days down there going from airport to airport, trying to find some corporate operators, get my name out there etc. So just wondering what are some good corporate flight departments, airports to check out, companies to check out? Also what kind of flight time would one need to be competitive? I'm at about 3000 TT, with 1500 multi jet time. Obviously I plan on having more before I move there. Any help/insight would be great. I hear it's a coporate hotbed down there. Thanks in advance!

I know that YUM! foods or what ever the heck their called has a corporate flight department in Addison. Good luck my friend, you and i are both in the same shoes except I have a Lear Jet type rating and a bit less flight time than you....I'll keep my eyes open for ya, PM if you have any questions
 
Not too long ago, there was a company American Jet International that was looking for Lear pilots to be based out of Dallas. Not exactly the corporate gig your looking for, but at least it might get you to Dallas. The company is out of Houston. Check with them. I'm also looking for a way to get back to the Big D. I actually interviewed with them today, but let me tell ya.....It seems almost near impossible to get on with those guys, they're done interviewing actually. I believe they have the last interview tomorrow
 
Good luck. To get into the corporate world, you need time in type, and a type rating. You're probably going to have to get an entry-level job of some type somewhere, in order to get some time in type. It's basically going to be like starting over. There's good news and bad news....the good news is, there are about 80 gazillion corporate and charter jobs in the DFW area. The bad news is, there are about 80 gazillion typed Netjets, Flops, and Simuflite guys there looking for jobs, and most of them are trained and qualified in corporate equipment, with time in type.

However, there are a LOT of entry-level type jobs in the area, (Cherry-Air for example) that will get you that much needed corporate jet experience, and even though it might suck, it's still better than first year at a regional, and you'll be home a lot more.

Crap Shoot

Although I am not a pilot and do not inhabit those circles, I can only relate it with the mechanics life in the DFW area.

Basically, it is a crap shoot.....
Most corporate operators have had their crews for quite some time. You will have to know a butt-load of people, keep your ears open, and wait, wait, wait.

Even then, it will be a crap-shoot because there are over two dozen other people that are doing the exact same thing.

I think your best bet would be (just in my opinion), I would take up the slack time with some, not-so-big named 135 operator or even one of the time share companies to get in the area. After that I would start with making contacts in the area.

PUflight, you gotta get your nose stuck under the tent. Take any job in the area that lets you hang where the Corp guys hang. Face time is everything. If I could afford to pump jet A, I'd move to DAL and try that in order to get into a good job, however I'd have to give up a pretty decent job to make sacrific and currently the gamble is just not worth it.I guess that I'm stuck waiting on SWA and commuting to Florida. You should try and get on with Ameristar.They have a base in texas and you can get Falcon or Lear time.
 
Anyone have any info on Gamestop (Gatorman, I'm looking your way... :D )? I see they're a spinoff of Barnes & Noble, and are operating BN's old 601 Challenger. How are they to work for and where are they based in the Metroplex?
 
I think they used to hgr at BJC at DAL. That is VERY dated information though.

I currently live in the DFW area and probably what helped me and my buddies the most as far as making contacts was Simuflite. I worked as a volunteer right seater in the Lear series and the Challenger for them a few years ago and met more people than I can count. That's how I landed my last corporate job in fact. The guys that go in there with a great attitude and a willingness to learn always seem to come out with job opportunities. The problem with this program is that they don't compensate you for your work, it's basically an internship. You get all the training and manuals for free but your not making a dime for the time you spend there. The upside is that it is a goldmine for making contacts in the corporate world. From looking at your profile and experience, it wouldn't take a guy like you too long to be picked up if you come in with a great attitude. Anyways, that's my opinion and from what I hear it really isn't worth that much:D . Good luck with the job search!!
