I am about to take a checkride in the Daytona area and was wondering if anyone knows any of the DE's up there? Good, bad, runaway, etc.
Thanks

One guy I recommend. He's the MAN for checkrides. (Robert) Bob Rasky......a very fair DE. I've had him for the bulk of my checkrides and have found him to be a very fair man. Lots of others in the area will vouch with the statement. Your best bet is ask the FSDO for a list of DE's in the area, but I'll tell you now....Mr Rasky is the one you'll want to go for.

Hmmm....no Mr Reslan, I think I may have heard of him at some point, but nothing I can remember about him to tell u the truth. I'll PM u in a bit...

I used him for my IFR checkride, he's pretty easy going. I've also used Dale Harper (PPL), and Kenn Luckett for CPL and ME-CPL. All nice guys, no complaints.

If you can get up to JAX, I would heartily recommend Walt Schamel. I knew Walt from my days in Civil Air Patrol in Oklahoma. He was an ASI at the Monroney Center who trained DEs, as well as our Oklahoma Wing Chief Check Pilot. He designed a course for squadron check pilots that very closely followed his FAA course for DEs. I attended the course one year, and the next year as an Assistant Wing Check Pilot, helped put on the course. I later became a stage check pilot at ERAU, and I knew exactly what I was doing because of Walt's training.

I recommend Walt Schamel highly for your practical. You will be treated professionally and fairly. By the way, good luck with your practical.

Bob Rasky stopped doing checkrides a few years ago right before I left the CFI gig in DAB. I always sent my students to Bruce Dunham. He is a cool guy. He is really laid back in during the whole checkride and he was always very fair and easy going. I sent all kinds of students to him and almost used him exclusively when any of my students went for checkrides. PM me if you want I might still have a way to get ahold of Bruce.

Thanks for all the replies-unfortunately the checkride is in a Navajo, and there are only a handful of DE's qualified to do the ride. Thanks for all the info.

bob raskey still does checkrides in daytona

Ah, the great Walt Schemmel, did my CFI checkride with him.

Sharp as a razor but very fair, tremendous amount of experience in everything.
Pretty much the man who wrote the PTS back in the day.
Heard he's doing something for AllATP, senior check airman or something.

Bob Rasky is the best DE period. Whatever you do, don't do it with that fat ass larry thomas, or nancy.

I would definately recommend Walt Schamel in Jacksonville. He is very fair which is all that you can really ask for in an examiner. He could stump you if he doesn't think you know your stuff because he knows everything but come prepared and he is great.

Bob Rasky is really a great DE. Had him do my commercial check ride at ERAU. Are you talking about the Larry Thomas that worked as a flight supervisor at ERAU? Cause I will testify to that guy being the biggest dick head in the tool shed, haha!
