Just noticed that there happend to be a couple of the new regional/SJ aircraft parked on Signatures ramp in MSP. Looked like 2 different sizes of the Embraer 170/175s and a couple of the larger Bombardiers 700/900 series.

Probably nothing but let the rumor mill start.........

From the Northwest Newswire,

Regional Jet Manufacturers Showcase Proposed RJs

Executives from across the company had an opportunity on Thursday to "kick the tires" on the two regional jets under consideration. Bombardier presented its CRJ900 that seats 76 customers in a two-class configuration; Embraer presented its Embraer 175 design which also accommodates 76 customers in a two-class configuration.

The event enabled both manufacturers to showcase their aircraft side-by-side. The day included a short familiarization flight aboard each aircraft type to provide an overall experience from a customer’s point of view.

Ground Services performed a luggage loading exercise to compare the dynamics of both aircraft for optimal ramp functionality. Representatives of Inflight Services were also on-hand to evaluate galley configurations and features.

Pictures of the day-long inspection will be posted on the main pages of Radar and the Intranet with links to a gallery of more photos.

rumor has it that they really don't like either one. CRJ has performance issues with weight, etc and the both aircraft's overheads aren't great. But they have to buy one.Or maybe both. Either way, they will be flown for rock bottom prices, so NWA won't care if consumers like them.

Yeah, being able to bring full-size carryons is a real pain in the a$$ for the EMB. Whatever...

I don't think this is news. The question is who will fly them. (and for how much)

Well, I think we can all guess how miserably low the pay is going to be!

Just bear in mind everyone...this sized airliner was flown at mainline not 5 years ago...Captains $150-$180K and FO's $60K-110K lets not forget our roots.

That was before the 50% paycuts.

i had an MSP turn and saw them taxiing the CRJ900 around with a generic CRJ paint scheme, gotta say I still prefer the look of the 175.
