April 3 - Recall/PLOA return class - 11 pilots
April 16 - New Hire class - 25 pilots
April 20 - Recall/PLOA return class - 14 pilots

Officially 200-300. Expect that to jump when they exit later this month. Lots of good things happening here.

The other day I recommended a friend for a job at mother D and I got a call from the HR folks for some Q's and A's and the guys was shocked that I had not returned to Delta. In BK not making money and he was shocked that I had no interest in returning. Reality is a funny thing, too bad most chose to ignore it and keep on keepin on....... hope delta gets their sh!t together..... can you say "claim sale" ;).

I will see how this pans out. It gives me more options than I have not. Either way it is better than where I am.

Hey Helo2Galaxy,

How you doin? See a bunch of old bubbas drinkin the purple kool-aid....

drop me a line...

ANY job at ANY major is better than ANY job at ANY regional. Good decision, ACL65.

Just keep your eyes and ears open. If DL doesn't come out of Ch.11 smokin' and beating their projections, start looking. As I tried to tell some USAir employees as they were emerging from their first trip in Ch.11, it's a tough road and most of the financial projections are B.S. just to satisfy the court and the creditors (even though THEY know it's B.S., too).

Good luck. TC

thank god you choose not to interview with us!

Sounds like somebody woke up on the wrong side of the rock. I personally believe DAL is one of the better deals right now, beginning of the wave, and they still make a lot more money, up to 6th year, than we do at CAL.

Congrats again CL65 pilot, DAL is the place to be.

I cant believe it....a pilot without an ego. Its refreshing! There was a CAL pilot in the March 19 class for Delta. Left after one year at CAL. My buddy who was in his class says this guy had some good things to say about the Pilots at CAL. Now if only you guys and Delta for that matter can raise the bar on pay things will really be looking up. Good luck!

So a guy goes through 1st year pay at CAL -- a place where supposedly the upgrade is now 3 years -- and leaves for DAL?

Interesting

It is not always about upgrade or pay. Could have left for QOL issues!

There are a few CAL guys that live in the ATL metro area that left for QOL issues. I guess that the commute was killing them.

He is right about the CAL guys most are good guys. He is a friend of mine. He belongs at DL. CAL's contract has a long way to go before its any good. The flying there is not all that great. EWR is chronically delayed. Its not for everyone. I hope to get back to DL soon. I still think its the best major to fly for.

Yeah and he still gets a raise when he comes to DL and has his insurance paid for after 30 days. CAL its six months. Pay scale across the board is better at DL. 4 years is more realistic in the current situation. May go down to 3 in a couple years. Not a bad place but their contract is not very good and QAL there is not as good as they would like according to many friends I have there. He also lives in ATL and DL is where he always wanted to be.
Its not about the money for everyone. QOL means alot.

100% correct. I know some guys who are at CAL over FedEx so they can live in IAH. If it were about the money I wouldn't be where I'm at now. Also, if it were about the money we should all be going to India and Dubai to fly airplanes. Not many of us willing to do that for QOL issues. I don't think there is anything wrong with jumping from one airline to the next to improve your QOL. I would go to DAL in a second because it would knock a commute out of my life even though money wise I wouldn't catch up until about year 4.

I have been working my butt off to fly for Delta since I started getting paid for flying 8 years ago. I finally made it (I'll be in the April 16th class) and I'm glad I never had to fly a "Replacement Jet" in the process. I get to live in my hometown of ATL and drive 25 minutes to work. I would not leave DL for a job at SWA, FEDEX, or UPS for all the money in the world. That is, unless Shuttle America takes over all the flying with E170's and I get furloughed so they can fly a nice new airplane for NO PAY!!

You seem to forget that big plane pilots keep voting to give away those Replacement Jets. I wish they would stop doing that!

What? Are you saying that pilots at the majors are asking management to give flying away to Shuttle America, etc....??????????

Please re-phrase that comment b/c it's by the far the most uneducated, idiotic thing i have ever read on this forum...EVER. You know NOTHING about ANYTHING making comments like that.

Jackhole.

I'd like to know the best way to get DAL to call for the interview. At CAL the trick is have your buds walk your stuff into the CP, same for Alaska. At FedEx your sponsor has to bug the CP and you needed 3 recs, at UPS it currently seems to be strictly based on the computer set parameters, at SWA have high TPIC time or get the type. What is the DAL gouge? Does having a Delta friend physically talk to his LAX CP do anything or is it just a computer doing the picking?
Thanks for any insight.
