I bet this guy bitches just for the sake of bitching... in his mind he thinks "What's the worst that happens? They say no???"
If he gets some miles or compensation out of it great, if not oh well. I'm sure he abused the heck out of it.

EXACTLY! He learned that complaining would get him more miles and other compensation and became a monster. The airlines are partly at fault as well, for making these pax think they're you-know-what doesn't stink. In turn they are usually very demanding and difficult to deal with both on the ground and in the air.
Ginsberg's lawyers countered that the rabbi and his wife had been averaging about 75 flights on Northwest each year, and that Ginsberg estimated that only about 10% of the trips had resulted in a call to Northwest's customer care.
I booked a confirmed seat on DL last year to go on a cruise and paid roughly $300 for a RT ticket from ATL-MIA. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it so I called Delta (a month in advance) to cancel the reservation and get a credit (not expecting to get a refund at all). I was in IAH recently and wanted to use the credit for a one way from IAH -ATL so I called DL res to inquire. They told me after all the "fees", I would have a credit of $50 out of my initial $300 to use towards a ticket. Total BS....Skyway robbery.
