I got a two leg commute the day of my trip. The first leg has to be on Delta. Is their anyway to check loads on DAL without having to basically book a ticket on the website? It just takes too long on my slow dial-up. Also do you have to reserve the jumpseat ahead of time like you do with American? Any help would be great. Thanks...

Other than our computer system, the only way I know to check projected loads is via the non-rev lines. Unfortunately, you would also need and employee number and pin to utilize that.

Only Delta pilots can reserve the jumpseat, and there are restrictions to that depending on the reason for travel: to work, from work, other, etc.. As far as I know, Offline personnel can only get it on a walkup basis.

FWIW - There seems to be a unofficial push from the gates lately to get the flights out on time, regardless of nonrevs, jumpseats, etc. Please arrive at the gate early and get our attention in the cockpit so we know you're there.

I wish you success!

I have had good luck in the past calling the regular 800 reservation number at night when they're less busy and very politely explaining that I will attempting to jumpseat on a particular flight and could they possibly check the load for me. I was never turned down.

Go to the reservations section of delta.com. There, you enter the cities you want to fly between and the times. It will come back with a list of choices and at the right side of each choice will be a button to "view seats". By viewing how many seats are available, you will get a good idea of the load.
