Question for Delta guys,
Im going with some family members to Barcelona in April returning from Paris the following month. We are going to purchase tickets for my family and I am thinking about using the jumpseat to get there. I have never jumpseated internationally and wanted to know if it would be possible and what is the proper procedure to do so? Also if I were to use a Zed ticket, would that move me up the list higher to get on or should I just stay with the jumpseat. I would greatly appreciate any input or advice regarding this issue. Thanks in advance.

I don't work for DAL, but have used them to JS internationally before.

When I did it you had to be checked in at least either 75, or 90 mins (can't remember) prior to the go time for passport listing reasons. Same when coming back. Make sure to allow plenty of time coming back to allow for paying applicable dept taxes, reclaim VAT from purchases, etc. I did this at the international service center in ATL where I was given the form, then proceeded to the gate when leaving the U.S

Coming back I checked in at the ticket counter.

And yes, as a JS'er, you are the LAST person to be issued a seat. So a ZED or ID is going to get on before a JS'er.

I don't think zed will help you at all... No need to pay, more likely to get in business as a jumpseater. Buy chocolate for the FA's regardless if you get it. Usually good for a better seat, free booze, etc. Delta agents, in jfk at least, are terrible when it comes to International jumpseats. Give yourself tons of time, was told once I need a receipt of zero taxes paid for my flight out of the country. Often claim you can't JS or screw up cass too. If there are only business/first seats open, agents may deny u boarding without a chance to talk to the pilots. Once on board, crews are fantastic.
