Trying to nonrev MSP AMS in a few weeks. Is it available yet? Do the gate agents have the info? Should I just try to meet the captain?

Alright, I can see my post wasnt worded that great. Thanks dick!

Is Delta Airlines allowing pilots to occupy the intl. jumpseat? Do the gate agents know this? Do they have all the information necessary to process it or should I just try to meet the captain when go?

1. Go to the Cust Supp. Desk and ask them to list you. Wait in line like everyone else and don't use Business Class lane.

2. They will list you, take your credit card and tell you whether there are open seats.

3. Go the gate, give you jump seat request slip (given to you by Cust Supp. folks) and be patient and wait.

4. When the gate agent gives you the boarding pass, stop by by the flight deck and say hi.

You can't jumpseat internationally. Only can ride in the back.

Corporal, I think he is refering to the ALPA Fastread of April 15, 2011. It clarifies a policy shift from the TSA's int'l jumpseat rules.

Forget it. Im just gonna use a ZED. Its obvious no one knows for sure

I'm confused. Delta has been taking jumpseaters on international flights for at least a decade as long as you have an agreement in place. The only thing that has changed, according to the fastread, is that airlines are allowed by the TSA, to take jumpseaters on the flight deck. What's unclear is when or how this will be implemented.

If your airline has an international jumpseat agreement in place, at the very least you should be able to ride in the cabin after paying departure taxes. I would take a ZED for backup, but the cabin should be open for you.

Dude don't waste your money on a ZED fare. I just rode Delta RT from CDG to SLC last week after the new TSA rules came out. Cost over was $0. Out of Paris there was a tax of around 65 euros. Going give yourself 2.5 hours to list wait in line going over BUT anytime you are overseas give it 3 just to be safe. It took the Delta/Air France folks in Paris around 45 minutes to figure out how to list me.
The Delta crew told me the only hold up is how fast (or not) the FOM is revised. But don't worry the Delta crews are are great and will take wonderful care of you.
If any of the gate agents put you in the cheap seats and there is room in 1st do not go and sit down in the back. The flight attendants told me they will not go back and give you the bump to the big boy seats. Bring some high end truffles, dress nice with a jacket and tie and wait in the jet way. Works like a charm. Have a great trip!
