Well seeing that one of the reasons that they are in a mess is their, post September 11th, decision to amass cash instead of cutting costs, borrowing more money might not be a good thing.

I infer that comment from this short article. If anyone has a subscription to the WSJ I'd appreciate comment on the entire article.

"Commentary: Delta's focus on raising cash put it at a disadvantage: After the Sept. 11 attacks, Delta Air Lines focused on building up cash instead of asking workers to take pay cuts, The Wall Street Journal reports. The strategy created more debt for the airline and put it in a weak bargaining position with leaders of its pilots union, who this week agreed tentatively to a 32.5% pay reduction.
