Do I have to tell my employer the specific reason for a deferred medical. I will get it back I just have to go through the process.

Is this question on an application? Chances are the question states "Have you ever had your medical suspended?" If so, then you can likely answer NO. Twice I've had an AME not issue the certificate pending a referal from the FAA docs. When I was filling out an application recently, one of the questions asked something to the effect of, "Have you ever been 'denied' a medical certificate or had your certificate suspended or revoked." I called the medical department of the FAA (405-954-7699) and asked what my records show. I was told that being denied a medical certificate is where you are unable to get it...I was specifically told I have never been denied.

Related: I have a heart condition, but am still able to hold a Class 1. During my medical exam during new-hire at a major I was sweating bullets. The doctor told me to thank the ADA because as long as I have a Class 1 (the requirement to be hired, not fly as F/O) they could not deny my employment based upon this particular condition.

My BP med was replaced with one on the not approved list. My question was in regards to letting my present employer know why I am grounded for the next week.
