Just curious what you guys and gals prefer to wear in the DC-8...what works and what doesn't...thanks!

Telex 750

I'm currently on the panel and I use a Telex 750. I've had this headset since way back and it works just fine. This summer when I move up to the front, I'll keep using it. Most pilots that I fly with use whatever they've had for a long time: simple earpieces, Telex 750, 850, ANR headsets, a/c supplied headsets (which ours are really bad!), etc. Use what you are comfortable with.

I will second the telex non noise cancelling. The 8 isn't very loud, unless someone forgets to close the access door for the huffer cart.

When I flew the 8 our fleet was a mix of ex-KLM,JAL,Air Canada, and United DC-8's so we did not have the luxury of a standard anything. It was said Douglas had fleet standardization right up until they built the second DC-8. I ended up using a hand mike and a simple audio only earpiece. If you are lucky enough to have a standard setup the Telex750 will be my next headset when my Sony MDR 7020 dies. Good luck with it............

You know the saying, if you have seen one DC-8, you've seen one DC-8
