So, a buddy of mine at FedEx said the DC-10 excess bid was recinded and the ACP's were calling the 30 guys to notify them?

Anyone hear about this?

Didn't I just read that Fedex was adding more service on Saturday's for increasing the volume of their two day and three day packages? That would require more people to fly those extra trips, right? Or would they offer $$$$ to the existing people and not upgrade anyone again for years....?

Bye Bye--General Lee:rolleyes:

Uh, oh. . . .

General. . . . are you bored today??

It kinda wouldn't surprise me. I don't think the excess had the desired effect. Only like six dudes went to the back of the boeing, and I think the company was hoping for more. About 15 are going to ANC and LAX on Company paid moves, which I don't think they wanted nor needed. Even if they did need guys in those places, they could've got them to go there for free on the next bid. I also think that excessing 30 dudues from the 10 would make that seat short.

But then again what do I know, I'm not an expert....Like Fedexpert.

Keith,

No, but it snowed today in ATL--so I am sitting reserve again inside. (no bike riding for me and the wife today) Fedex has the same practice as Delta when it comes to overtime flying, and we actually have 1060 guys out on the street---so that bothers me sometimes. Take care.

Bye Bye---General Lee:rolleyes:

LOL

General,

I should have added a :-) to my post. . .

. . . just seems like it doesn't take much to get the FDX guys fuming at each other over extra flying. . .

Keith,

Tell me about it. We were SUED, and LOST during our C2K contract negotiations for NOT picking up overtime. What if you didn't want to? Nope. They sued us for disturbing the "status quo." So, we HAD to pick up overtime on our days off! (not me, though) Now we have guys on the street and it still goes on---big time. It just makes me mad---and I really do have friends who still are furloughed and can't get a break---that after thinking they finally were given their "big break" getting hired here. Enough of my ranting----enjoy your day---I hope it isn't snowing too hard in MEM---I didn't see it on the Wx Channel....Take it easy.

Bye Bye---General Lee;)

I haven't seen or read anything about the company rescinding the DC10 excess bid and I doubt I ever will. The company thought long and hard before making that decision and now that it is done and over with I believe it will stick.

Just because a bunch of pilots were awarded ANC and LAX bids doesn't mean that is going to cost the company very much money at all. To get the move package you DO have to move and not very many pilots pack up and relocate (less than 20%). I was awarded LAX last year and commute as well as a lot of other pilots (SEA, DFW, PHX, LAS, etc, etc)

I do think the excess bid did screw up staffing at LAX. The company had the number they wanted at @90 FO's and now they'll be @ 95. Doesn't seem like a big difference but it is when all 5 go in front of you and push you down the list even more:mad:

Oh well, at least I have a window seat:)

General Lee,

Are there any contract stipulations regarding overtime flying when guys are on furlough there? In our contract, before the company can furlough anyone, we get our monthly minimum hours cut, and during the period of the furlough volunteer flying is not authorized. Draft is still authroized, however.

I'm not a contract expert (but I did stay at a Holiday Inn express last night). Anywho, I think there is something about NOT being able to cancel a bid after it closes. It can be cancelled before, but not after. If i wasn't so lazy, I would look it up. AM out and backs will do that to you, ya know.

I think that's probably another silly rumor.

I understand they have postponed the training for the 6 (?) guys who were involutarily sent back to the 727 indefinately. Also that a new bid will be out this next week...

For what it's worth,

Past....

You are correct, sir.

The Agreement

Section 24, Filling of Vacancies

Paragraph B. Crew Position Postings

Subpara 1. General

Subpara e.
A posting may not be amended after it is published. The Company may, however, cancel any posting prior to its closing.

By the way, the current training letter has 3 of the guys starting 727 school on 3 MAR with a projected completion of 1 MAY. And to top it off, they have the privilege of sharing the classroom with the famous 727 S/O ACP in his Captain Upgrade.

check fine print

Those 2 guys were not excessed.

The excessed guys have disappeared from the training letter. I think its a conspiracy, and that they have been earmarked to be initial 737 cadre in our new China or Switzerland domicile. :D

Well, I thought I HAD checked the fine print. 2 DC-10 S/O's training to be 727 S/O's, awarded on Post 0401... reviewed the Final Posting... survey says - - they bid it! They were not excessed. Oh, my, doesn't that hurt. They must have thought it would be better if they "Volunteered" since they were gonna "BE volunteered" anyway??? NOW look what they got.

The only two training to be steamship oilers asked for it.

::: shakin' head :::

my, oh, my

Thanks for correcting me, Albie !

I heard that they threw themselves off the top of the Pyramid. . . .

I'd like to do that on skis somehow. I mean, how dangerous can it be? A 30 degree slope all the way down?

Now, if you had said the Hernando Desoto Bridge....

(you know which one that is, right?)

:)

LOL

Well, I guess you could break your leg or get a really nasty sprain. . .

Maybe they jumped from one of those really, really tall cranes over at the FedEx Forum??

I can't keep track of all the rumors anymore. . . . .

. . . the one's I've heard as well as the one's I've made up. . .
