The Majors link, in this site, reports that DAL will file today or this week. Big wigs in town from all over the country. This sucks....Their goes my future job? Anyone have those orange floaties so I can swim somewhere else?

Justino

Your future job with who?

I sure hope it doesnt happen but DAL going bankrupt will actually grow the Connection carriers.

Well if you read it on Flightinfo then it must be true! Quick, everyone sell their stock! Oh,...wait I don't own any airline stock. That was a close one. Calm down Justino.

I was referring to ASA/COMair, not Skyway. Who the heck knows about that deal.
This is, of course, assuming that ASA and Comair are able to get financing for their new aircraft with their parent company in bankruptcy. Just ask the folks over at PSA what can happen to new aircraft deliveries once a CH 11 is filed by the parent company.

Asa To Be Sold?

Heard that SKYW secured financing of 1 BILLION dollars to acquire ASA......:p

Another company purchasing ASA would be a way to keep the new aircraft deliveries coming. ASA is one of the most profitable parts of Delta Air Lines, and I don't think they want to lose their ability to continue expanding it. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see ASA sold, if someone is willing to buy them.

Horrible analogy... PSA acquired numerous new jets after U filed Ch 11. It wasn't until the SECOND Ch 11 that the financing was pulled. There is plenty of money to be had while in BK.

If thats the case, then yes, it was a poor analogy. I wasn't aware that they had new jets coming in during the first bankruptcy. Just like all of you I have my fingers crossed that the growth can continue at ASA and Comair both.

Good point fallingbrick.... You guys heard anything concrete?
Relax. I was recently offered an October Beech class. Personnel said that nothing's for sure, but it's still moving in the right dir with Delta. Possibility of a November D328 class. If the Delta deal dies for sure, I and other new hires will be furloughed. That's the airline game.....
Looking forward to flying the Beech. I love the Baron, and I guess it flies like a gigantic Baron. Do all of Skyway's have EFIS and Flight Dir (I know, no autopilot...).

PSA started taking delivery of their new regional jets once USAir came out of the first bankruptcy in March of 2003, not while they were still in.

I think Delta learned there lesson in DFW, and won't grow connection. I also think the same thing is going on in PIT, with USair.

Connection's growth had little to do with the demise of DFW. If anything it prevented it from happening a year ago.

Thats what I had thought originally....although I wish chperplt were right.

Furloughed!

zzzzzz.... huh? wha? yup. I was in the last class at PSA, first to get the furlough notice. If DAL files I would guess that there will be at the very least a delay in any new jets going to COM or ASA. I do think that ASA will be more conservative in the number of pilots they bring on board if that is a realistic possibility. In 25 years of business ASA hasn't furloughed. (please correct me if that info is wrong).

What purpose would the sale of ASA or COM serve to the long term DAL? I would think that long term they are better off with the connections carriers. Perhaps short term they need to reduce debt but wouldn't it make sense to do that from the areas of the company that are losing money anyway? Everything I've heard indicates that COM and ASA are money makers.

Are you referring to Skyway or SkyWest?

Skywest I'm sure. Skyway buying ASA would be like Spirit buying Southwest. This is assuming that this rumor has any truth at all.....which very few rumors on here do.
