Haven't nonrevved on DAL out of ATL in a few years...Back in the day they did not allow pax upgrades to biz elite but I've heard that now they do. Can anyone confirm this? My flight in question has 8 seats and 5 NRSA's. Thanks.

There is ZERO chance you will sit up front if this is domestic. There are something like 36 different upgrade catagories before they get to the non-revs. Many of those peeps get upgraded 24 hrs prior.

International is different. they still will not upgrade the FF's. Heard from some flight attentants that Delta was thinking about offering up unsold Biz Elite seats for sell at the gate. If that happens, then you can kiss that whole perk goodbye. I am all for Delta making money. They need to be profitable. But, something needs to give on the travel beenies, because they are not worth much when every flight is oversold by 10 and are a prime factor in doing this job for the wages offered.

Yea, the good old days of getting a chance of sitting up front on Delta domestic while being a NRSA are long gone....

Non-rev: yes.
Jumpseat: probably not.

FF have to upgrade with miles greater than 24hr prior to departure time. As for the seats for sale, they are passing. If you have a customer paying $3k for business class and then they sell the same class for a fraction just prior to departure the FF will not be happy campers.

Thanks. I'm talking biz elite so that's international. If I can't get it I'll probably just stick with UAL.

Depends on where internationally you are going. Mexico and most of the Caribbean, DAL will upgrade anyone. Other international flights won't have more then 1 or 2 upgrades at the most, if any at all.

I have seen first hand Delta upgrade over 20 passengers for free because coach was oversold, and they had no where to put the people. They are not supposed to, but they will still do it. I think the EU has put out harsh penalties for leaving paying passengers at the gate so Delta is not upgrading people international. They don't do it because of status though. They do it because they have oversold coach.

I have also seen this out of US cities. They will do what it takes to avoid involuntary denied boarding's

JS on delta is slim to none domestically. And i'm Comair. (Wholy owned and boned) Non rev is even worse. I don't give out buddy passes as they are tickets to Hell. Buy a ticket on SWA.

Also, some flights (cities) are seat restricted because of freight. They will bump non rev AND revenue to haul freight. Seats available means nothing on some city pairs.
