Flew caravans for DHL out of there for 3 months. Not bad by african standards, airport pretty well run with decent weather office/jetA etc. Good hotels, relatively safe and some good beaches.

Sure that doesn't help much, but hey.....

Where you flying from/to, what aircaft, staying or just refuelling? Might be able to help if you're a bit more specific

Been a few years. But like the previous post, it's not bad. Equipment is old but seems to function well. Fuel was clean to. Handler was very accomodating as well. Did a crew swap there with the two staying behind going to a resort hotel for a day to wait for the next flight to Europe the following nite. GA is on the ramp mingled in with the airlines. Lots happening there in the evening.

One caution; we hit what looked like an Owl (or at least a really big bird) on departure. Took it at the top of the right windshield on rotation. We were told after the fact that there's a bird 'problem' at nite. No kidding.

Otherwise, I'd go there again; especially if we're headed south into the sub-sahara region of the continent.

Dakar, Senegal is good place for a tech stop. Most recently, I flew the first and fourth legs of a trip into deepest darkest. Dakar was the refueling stop where I got off the jet and the the replacement crew got on to continue down range. I stayed in Dakar until the the jet came back on it's Northward reach.

I stayed at the Le Méridien President.

Air Senegal Landover did a good job as handler.

Some of the most athletic looking people I've ever seen live there. An inordinately high percentage look like they're preparing for the Olmpics.

Have fun!
