Does anyone have a link to the Customs or Boarder Patrol Pilot qualification requirements site? I can't find it on the main web page.

Thanks!

For the BP you have to be an agent for 3 years. There were rumors of customs and bp merging. That would allow you to become a pilot without time in service. If you want more info go to honorfirst.com

customs

mins are the same as all gov flying positions, check 2181 series jobs.....1500TT, 250 multi, yada, yada, yada. They never hire that low but since your dual rated you have a better shot. Customs usually only flies positions once a year (if that). ICE jobs are difficult to get and the whole process is long. I know a year from application to offer is normal and sometimes as long as 2 years. Look up army pilot to airline pilot http://www.aptap.org/ and do an ICE search on the message board. Tons of info there.

Thanks... I know Customs says 500 multi engine hours...

Sometimes there is a note that multi engine helo time counts, but that note is not there now...

Thanks all!

Perhaps you should look for BORDER Patrol . . .

qualification requirements

Hopefully this helps. I was looking on my files and I found the vacancy announcement that I applied to back in 02, and these were the requirements for both fixed wing and rotary applicants back then:

  • Commercial-single engine and multi engine class, intrument airplane rating,
  • For Helo applicants, previous plus: helo rotorcraft class and intrument rating.
  • Class II medical
  • TT 1500 hours, PIC 250, ME aircraft 500, Instrument 75, Night 75, flying last 12 months 100.
I have not seen the new requirements but I know that Customs Air and Marine (AMO) is merging all of Border Patrol Air and so the requirements will change on the next announcement. Just my opinion, I think that since BP Air has way more helos, the future announcements will be more helo heavy.

If you have any more questions about the job, pm me. Good luck.
