Refresh me on the logging of Cross Country... Commercial rated pilot not yet ATP. Do you log each flight to another airport as cross country or does the 50 mile limit still apply.
 
Using LBP, I would log the 50nm stuff as "Cross Country" and had a "135 Cross Country" column for airport to airport stuff...
 
For the purpose of using a cross-country flight for a qualification for a rating, the X-C flight must be over 50 miles. But, if you are not using the time for qualifing, any flight to an airport other than the one you took off from is X-C.

This exact question came up in my CFI re-instatement check-ride this past Wednesday.
 
Iceman is correct, for the purpose of a certificate or rating the XC must be 50NM or more. If all you're going for is 135 XC time, then it's point to point and it doesn't matter if you're making a quick hop from OSU to CMH but it still counts. For reference, OSU to CMH is about 7 miles or so.

Best thing to do is to block off one of those spare empty columns in the logbook and use that to log the point to point, and level the "real" stuff for the printed XC column. That way there's no confusion.

That's true for 135, or any other x/c requirement for a certificate or rating...except...the ATP.
Flights to a point (not a landing) beyond 50 nm and returning to the same airport can count as X/C for the 500 hrs x/c time for the ATP. 61.1(3)(vi)(B)

Didn't I read once that the reason this was put in was for all of the SAC Pilots that would take off, fly for hours and hours and hours, then end up landing at the same Air Base?
