US Airways ordered CRJ700s in this new variant, "Series 705".
That's actually a CRJ900 with a slightly lower gross weight and certified for 75 pax, max. Sort of like the CRJ440 is just a CRJ200 certified for 44 seats, max.
J4J permits "Large SJs" up to 75,000 lbs MGTOW and 70 seats, except for EMB-170 and EMB-175 which are larger and heavier.
CRJ700 "Series 705" is 79,500 lbs MGTOW and 75 pax. It doesn't seem to fit under the J4J limits.
Does it have to be flown at MidAtlantic by US Airways pilots like the EMB-170/175?
Do the US Airways pilots know about this? Do they care?
