Is the CRJ700/900 type good for the Global Express? I've got a friend who has a chance to flow back at AE who is more than willing to get his 500 hours PIC courtesy of AMR and move on to Corporate. Will this work? Thanks.TC

It MIGHT work for the Challenger, but isn't the Global a totally different aircraft ?

I don't think it will work. The CRJ700 type is a CL65. You can fly the 200/700/900 under the type, but the Challenger/Global express are seperate types.

I hear Simuflight only wants 18K for the Challenger type, and somthing like 40K for the Global.

Nope, the Global Express Type is a BBD-700... The RJ's are CL-65 Types and the Challengers are CL-600 & CL-604 Types...

All different...

Thanks all. Nothing cheap in corporate, I guess.TC

one idea..

MOST Global Express operators are not TOO concerned about having the type already. MOST are more concerned about hiring the right person, not saving the few bucks at FSI/Simuflight.

They look more highly at previous International experience more than time in type.

FSI can teach a monkey to fly a Global Express in 3 weeks, its the years of running Intl trips that companies find valuable....plus the personality that the others want to be on the road with for these longer trips!!

They certainly dont care about 500hrs in an RJ - not that this is not good time, just not relevant in any way...

Just curious...how does a Global Express get a type designator of BBD-700?!

Flowbacks go back to the Embraer, not the CRJ-700, according to my friend at Eagle who was a union rep. This supposedly was negotiated during APA's 60 million dollar concession.

How is your friend going into the CRJ-700? Was he offered that, or was he told he would get a "CJ" position?

When the bids come out, there are ERJ's offered and CR7's. He said he'd have a choice in DFW. Nothing that came out of the concessionary contract was valid for the flowbacks. Eagle grieved the whole thing and the arbitrator agreed with them. I believe the CR7 is now on the table. Oh, well, I've kind of lost interest in the whole AMR thing lately.

Anyway, thanks G200. I'll tell him to shop his Int'l. experience around. He would like to be captain on something other than a C-2 though... TC
