Does anyone out there know how important credit checks are in the hiring process? I have had a bunch of people ask me in the last few months about what role they play in the hiring process. What are they looking for? Big or little items? I really wish I had the info to give them, but I just fly the plane, I'm not in HR.

Thanks in advance,
Yogi

Or unless you're applying for a job with a major... Many airlines do look at credit reports. Don't kid yourself.

I have no idea about the regionals but many corporate gigs DO check Credit Reports.

check yours, its cheap or even free and you may be surprised what is on there, many false things or stuff you forgot about that can changed very easily.

Dont think people WONT check it. I dont think its needs to be perfect by any means, but it all goes toward the big picture, ya know??

Executive jets (netjets) want you to sign a form for continuous credit checks. I gues they want to know how you spend your salary. Or see if what they pay is enough for you: if you were a regional fo or a flight instructor and you could live of their money, maybe you could live of their new salary

It's no myth. When I applied to American a few of years ago, the application packet included a release to obtain your credit rating. Some airlines do use it to screen candidates.

Yes, it is something that all employers look at now. You should obtain a free copy from all of the credit rating companies, just to make sure that everything is ok.

"godsgift2aviation"

should read..

"godsgiftto REGIONAL aviation"..

but don't sweat the credit check, bro, unless your momma is after you for being behind on the rent while you still live in the basement...:D

Looks like I'm in trouble. It cracks me up the airlines care about my credit. Maybe I should ask for their credit report before I apply. I mean come on! How many have filed bankrupcy??

I've worked for two airlines and one of the largest jet charter operators in the country. All three had me sign a form authorizing ongoing checks for the entire duration of my employment and no one has ever looked at it from any of these companies; a list of every firm that has pulled your credit, or done a beacon score on you is listed on your report. It's a good idead to run a report on yourself at least once a year to see ifanyone's been running a report without your authorization, as well as to see if there's any misinformation on it. They want to have this form on file "just in case".

Nice avatar, godsgift.

Incidentally, anybody else think that "my horrible, burdensome student loans" is a poor excuse for bad credit?
