I read your post and was afraid you wouldn't see my reply if it was so far down the list. There are currently no airplanes scheduled to come to us after 2004. I believe that is a ploy to get us to reopen our pwa (pilot working agreement). Management doesn't have any other bargaining chip to get us to the table early. The Delta pilots have said they won't give concessions unless we do too. Having said all that, I believe there are about 50 airplanes that are in play (ordered but not assigned to asa or comair). There may be a slight slowing in upgrade times but not a lot! I think comair is about a thousand times better than eagle based on what I hear from eagle guys. Come over now! We will welcome you with open arms and you get a pay raise to boot! :D

Well. I check the thread almost every day, so I would have seen your response. Thanks for the input, looks as though I am leaning towards CMR.
See you in CVG

Upgrade Times

I flew with one of our Chief Pilots two weeks ago and he said that we were going to hire 130 pilots to finish out '03. He also said that we would be hiring 130 pilots in '04 to fill the firm CRJ70 orders. The smart thing would be to guage your "carreer advancement" on those firm numbers, however this industry is known for quick change and Comair is not immune to that. Best case: we aquire the DO division of ACA and get 50 more 70 seaters. The worst is that we just hire 260 more pilots.......not bad for the current environment. The reason I came here, and this is my 3rd airline, was because this is one of the few airlines I can have absolutes......you WILL be based in CVG, you WILL keep your job for awhile......you WILL have to wait awhile to upgrade.... you WILL wear a black uniform with gold accessories. If you are worried about upgrade then you will be dissappointed. It's not like 4 years ago when we could go somewhere and in 6months- year we were captain. I expect I will upgrade here in 5 years maybe more. If it is sooner than great, if longer....then thank God I have a job and I work for a company where I can make enought to support myself as an FO. It's a tough call but for me, compared to the US AIr w/o's I worked for .......This place is night and day. Feel fortunate that you are able to make a choice between the two largest regional airlines...most guys/gals are making a choice between Home Depot or Lowes.

Good Luck.

For what it's worth, I came over from Eagle and it is a night and day difference. Two people from my new-hire class at Eagle are now at Comair. I have no complaints about Comair. If you have any questions, pm me.

Sid...

thx

I guess that thinking about upgrade times in the current economic situation is like asking for too much. I guess I should just be greatful. Looks like I will be in CVG.

It is what you make it. I think you will be happy....
