Planing a Trip next month, any info would be appreciated. Hotels, FBO's, Flight Planning, Surprises enroute if any. Looks like we will be taking an Excel any thoughts on were to stop leaving the Midwest.

El Bucho--Where'd you stay in Liberia? We stayed at a semi-dump called the Ocotal. Apparently, there's a better crew hotel there. Father Rooster's wasn't bad.TC

In MROC, stay at tha Mariott San Jose, one of my favorite hotels anywhere.
In Liberia, drive about an hour down the coast to Playa Tamarindo. It's a little surf town, not really nice or elegant, but lots of fun. Tamarindo Vista Villas is clean and safe, about $85 US.

Looks like MROC right now at least to clear customs. Probally gonna leave out of the Toy Store in FXE. Anyone use Colt for planning and permits? I know Universal is good but looking to try someone new, Universal is a bit high.

Thanks for all the input

Colt Handling

I used Colt on a 17 day 8 stop trip to Europe in January. Excellent service. Good as Universal any day I might add.

Costa Rica is awesome, I would only stay on the Pacific side. I had seen some crazy bad stuff in the Caribbean South (particularly Puerto Viejo and Puerto Limon). If your surffing I would go to Jaco and Herradura. Have fun and lookout for the monkeys in Manuel Antonio, they'll take your pic nic! Logan

Colt is OK at the very best, provided that you do not ask them anything out of the ordinary ... like can you get customs to stay late in Cabo. I will admit that there billing is much better than Universal, but they do not handle curve balls well.

How long are you going to be there? If you're going to San Jose, check out the Blue Marlin and canopy tours. If you have some time, go out to Quepos. It's very beautiful and there is a lot to do. ATV tours, canopy tours, fishing, shopping, sightseeing, etc. Check out www.queposfishing.com. It's a great place. Also, there is surf and fishing at Jaco and Los Suenos. If in Liberia, Tamarindo is pretty close. Lots of surf and some very nice places to stay. Watch out for the Italians though!! Have fun. It's great down there. I just got back a week ago.

In Liberia, we were only there for 1 night but stayed at a pretty nice place right on the beach. It was like a 20 minute drive, mostly down a dirt road. Nice enough hotel though. No internet though if you need your email fix. They had computers but the internet wasn't working. Colt was our handler and Adrian down there did a fine job. Watch them if you get a lav-service though. The lav-monkies sort of botched that one up, just didn't do it right I guess. I think the total bill for the handling was almost 1200 bucks. Included 115 bucks for round trip transportation to the hotel, 20 bucks for ice, etc. Oh yeah, the country is on fire right now too, it's the dry season. Was 37 when we left I think. Wish I could have been there longer to check it out more. I hear good things about the country overall.

EB--Sounds like the Ocotal Beach Resort where we stayed. There are some cool-looking places in Tamarindo, about an hour from MRLB. They say they have internet but...

When we go on these trips, we're usually there for 10-12 days. That's a long time to be making phone calls home on T-mobile (which so far doesn't work in Liberia). The Four Seasons sounds perfect...at $290 a night!

This could be an interesting search. Thanks for the input.TC

What about the girls? Are they pretty hot in Costa Rica? Are they easier than american women? Just curious..........headed there in a few days.

Tamarindo is where it's at. Good lookin girls are everywhere. I got lucky and I'm definitely not something special. Stay away from the Carribean coast. It's all witch doctors and sharks. Best surf is up to the north. Rent a boat and go to Witch's or Ollie's point. Awesome.

Thanks.........Anything in particular to seduce the local women?

one of my life goals is to score with a chick in every country I fly to, been lucky in all but the DR...was only there for 12 hours and couldnt go out on the prowl.

can i get a liter cola?

Girls

If you are in San Jose, check out the Blue Marlin. If you're in Quepos, check out the Hotel Del Rey. If you're in Jaco or Los Suenos, check out the Beatle Bar. Just go there!!! You'll think you are the shiznit!!! Cheap and hot!!!
