Im a CRJ 700 Captain and might have a chance to take a leave of absence to fly for Avionco! Its a contract sevice out of Calgary. I was wondering if anyone has the scoop on this! I was told I could be put in Italy when I get my Irish passport, which Im working on currently!

There have been mixed reviews but mostly bad from guys I know that have done it. I wouldn't quit a job to do it though and don't take less than $11,000/month.

My opinion, based on experience: Avoid them at all costs. Look elsewhere on here and on other pilot message boards and read the various posts.

my buddy is an instructor there and loves it for now. He is based in N Africa but has flown back to Canada. His background is Pinnicle in the states. I think he is based in Tunisia right now. Still waiting on a text.

I would love to get Irish qualified, all the best= rum

You really like exclaimation points!

I'm currently doing contact flying for an Irish carrier in the RJ85/146. I left Mesaba after 8 years, and don't regret it at all...though there are things you need to consider when signing the contract. Just don't look at the $$$ and sign the dotted line. I did just that, and wish I would have had some more 'insurance' built into it. However, I'm only planning on doing this for a short time and then heading back to states once I get a good job there.

Contract flying can be fairly lucrative...especially getting paid in EURO, and the USD in a Split-S. :)

Avionco Pay Warning

A warning to all prospective contract pilots considering working for Avionco Canada, Located in Calgary Canada. This company has one of the worst reputations in the industry and is infamous for either paying late or cheating many pilots out of their money for services performed. They will lie to you about having contracts, while you are sitting at home awaiting assignment and not getting paid for it. There are much better contracts out there with other companies than the Bombardier contract they will try to hook you and lead you on with. Hundreds of pilots and engineers can't be wrong! Do your self a favor and do some homework on these people before you engage them.

I know a guy who does work for them, moving 737's and MD80's around the world.
Loves every minute of it.
Guess it's not for everyone.
