This is probably a stupid question, but here goes. How many different airlines are operating as Continental Express? I have heard references to Coex, ExpressJet, and several others. Is everyone talking about the same thing, or is there more than one company? Also, I know about the whole SkyWest thing already.

Continental Express (COEX) and ExpressJet are essentially one in the same. There is only one Continental EXPRESS. Think of it this way...ExpressJet dba (doing business as) Continental Express. ExpressJet being the company and Continental Express being the banner that it flies under. ExpressJet is a regional (I use that term loosely) air carrier partner to Continental Airlines. Make sense?

There are three carriers flying as Continental CONNECTION; Skywest, Gulfstream, and Commutair. Continental still holds a large stake (about 45%) in ExpressJet but NOT in the other three. Continental does hold a nice chunk of shares in Gulfstream though, as a result of the B1900D deal a few years back. I do not know the specifics of this though, because I believe Gulfstream is privately held.

If any of this info is wrong feel free to correct me...I've been away from COEX for almost two years. Hope this clears up any confusion.

Cheers,
Markus
