I am trying to stay on top of my options, what are you seeing as competitive minimums for the bigger regionals (coex, ame, asa etc..)? Is having less than 2000 t.t. and 300 multi a long shot? I know I made the COEX 90day waiting list for the phone interview but how do you think I will fair with all my other resumes, applications and so forth? (I do not have inside help on any)

Reason being I turned down one job due to a training contract and not enough information on the company and do not want to do it again if I am reaching.

Any information would be appreciated.

I turned down one job due to a training contract

What type of training contract was it? Seems silly to turn down a job because of a training contract unless it was a lengthy term. Most I've seen or heard of have been 1 year. With ground school, sim, and IOE, that one year becomes 8 months on line.. Not a long commitment.

Browse through some of the recent threads on AE and Coex and I think you'll find your times are with those that have been hired.

uh, it was with your previous employer.
It wasn't just the training contract. I applied and within 2 weeks I was headed off to training on the beech with alot of (-) information on the company. I have since been able to balance things out a little more though.
I dislike the contracts because they really trap the employee and I was not sure about how I would fit in with the company. I look at QOL and what I will be bringing home at the end of the day to the family.
I hope I left things on a good note because I am thinking about reapplying if nothing comes up in the next month or so.

Thanks for the replys

Hey v-snap:
with your times, talking to my buddies at places like Comair and ASA you would be either marginal or entirely uncompetitive. Seems like you would be right in the mix for Express Jet, probably Eagle as well. Here at CHQ you would also be very close to competitve, more so if you have a recommendation. Good luck.

I don't think I would be very concerned about a training contract. Even if you have to sit for a year somewhere, you will probably get some good experience. Most likely twin turbine time. ASA, Comair, Air Wisconsin, and the likes, will probably not take you unless you know someone. CHQ, Mesa, and others like that are a good place to try. I don't mean to group those two together, but I think you get the point.
Your question is about like the "upgrade for PIC time, or go to a good regional." I fly with many captains that have 3000+ hours PIC jet time, and can't get hired with the select few airlines that are hiring. I have been on the roller coaster ride. Who cares if you fly the ERJ or the CRJ. It is more about the days off, pay, and seniority. If you are looking for stories to tell your buddies around the FBO when you rent a 172, then plan accordingly. Get in wherever you can, the best time to look for a job is when you already have one. Just my opinion, some will disagree, but that is why we are here.

I just thought I'd throw in that this, "they won't take you unless you know someone" stuff, while typically being true in my experience, has been completely UNTRUE in the latest. I had an interview with Pinnacle and have an interview with ASA, and if you look on past threads, people say that for both companies, you HAVE to know someone to get an interview. Not only did I not know anyone at either, I got called less than 2 weeks after sending in my stuff. Apply, it can't hurt, hell, it's free.

Yea I have applied well over a month ago to all the places. Did the usual e-mail,fax, mail routine. Even had someone at AE push my paper work through a month ago and no bites yet. I know it can be long in coming but my main objective is to find a job I can stay at for a few years. I don't want to jump around to get nowhere. The PIC/SIC thing has never been a concern, it will happen eventually.
Thanks for the word.

If any of the places you're applying to has online applications, use those. Seems to be the best way these days to snag an interview.
