Just wondering if anybody works in the States but commutes out of YYZ?....I'm playing with the idea of doing it but I don't know how to get a "staff" rate on parking which would make it kind of impossible considering the cost. I know that commuting will make my life hell...but its only temporary until I can live on base. Thanks in advance!

You want to live on base?

Don't know who you work for. But I know on Delta, you get charged the "tax" for coming and going out of Canada. Don't know how the Jumpseat would work. It's not much of a tax, however, it will add up with multiple use. Additionally, I would hope you can keep a US address. The taxes in Canada, I would imagine, would be STEEP. Good luck.

Yea I think you get charged the tax one way (out of Canada)...But my cost of living here would be alot cheaper (girlfriend owns a house)...So that might offset the cost.

Hi!

I JS on NWA DTW-YYZ once in a while. No charges of any kind (NWA considers Canada to be the same category as Domesitc flights-maybe that has something to do with it?).

I would take the train to the west end of the subway, and then the Rocket (bus) direct to the airport-no parking fees.

Good luck!

PS-The subway will eventually get to the airport. Who knows how long it will take???

I've been thinking of the same thing, being based in DTW... YYZ is a very short flight. Air Canada takes jumpseaters as well. The only thing I'm worried about is the double taxation issue, if they identify you as a resident you can be subject to double taxation if you are over a certain income bracket (~$80k I think..).
