Don't hold your breath. Apparently there is no announcement. Just the company roadshows to explain in person all of the recent changes.

Hey WSurf,

Not much changed at Piedmont either. Big News at Commutair is synonomous with getting jets at Piedmont. What ever happened to Frank S? I hear Hayter is still there.

Ah, those were the good old days, 33R at KBOS, and terrain warnings on the ILS into SLK

Didn't "S" go away like a year and a half ago?

Hey Billy, Hows it goin? PM me or give me a call sometime.I still talk to most of our Commutair newhire group, and would like to hear from you.

Man, thats awesome that some of the old Commutair guys still surf this board!!!!!! I miss those days, montreal, Shady Diana's! Wearing my Viking hat and pillaging downtown Platsburg!!!! Those were the days!!
And who in the hell was the drunk taxi driver that used to give us rides all the time! What the hell were we thinking getting in the cab watching him down drinks while he took our drunk butts home... That is way too funny. Hope its still a blast now like it was then!!!

I heard they are looking at buying Saab 340s, but don't know if that is old or new news.

The Saab rumor has been around since at least late 98/early99 when I first herd it as a 135 pilot applying to 121 commuters/regionals.

The follow up I herd back then was that didn't get the financing (from Saab i guess) due to some kind of IRS investigation in ref. to tax filing. This was around the summer of 99.

A year later they got 25 or so new 1900's then switched to CAL and the summer of 01 cut the fleet in half due to some other stuff. After which they kind of restructured and made ALB a "mini" hub for CAL then went into CLE which is where they are at today.

note: I'm not a CA pilot I'm just relaying what i've been told and seen over the years in ref. to CA, having flown in and around the NE US along side them for the past 5+ years.

Any CA confirm this or correct it?

The switch to CAL happened in Dec 2000. The cutbacks in the summer of '01 (ie. Pre-9/11) occured as a result of a "rough transition" from the Airways system to the CAL system.

We are currently looking at either the Saab 340B+ or Dash 8 Q200. I don't know if you'd call it a rumor as management is very open about talking about it. Now whether they are serious about it or not is another question.

Hi,

The Saab rumor was well alive in '95 and they were coming....

At Commutair the best thing to go by is believe it when you see it.

Bye

Absolutely!

I've been "looking at" getting a Mercedes S600, too. Doesn't mean it's gonna happen any time in the realistic near future, though. :D

Humvee drver,
