Would like to see if any CA pilots can shed light on length of time to upgrade at CommutAir. What are some typical times for those moving on to Airtran or ATA, or do some use it as a stepping stone to other regionals. Thanks...
With most of the hiring done it will be a while for upgrades, even if all coex guys return to express ( I think at least 25% will stay). As far as going to the majors go, I do not know of anyone who has left since I have been here. There are a couple of guys in the SWA pool and both have been here 8 or more years and have tons of time. Few tried to go to Comair with no avail. I still believe its still about who you know. good luck.
It has always been about who you know. That is true for most every industry, union or non-union, blue collar - white collar...
That is why you are always selling yourself. A well placed friendly hello and solid handshake can open more doors than any faxed resume. It is a daily thing.
I have watched plenty of people network their way to the head of the line. They still have to be competent, so don't read me wrong. Just know that anyone who sits around waiting for something to happen will find themselves staring at a silent phone.
The times are just the first "hurdle" and as you all know, with the right contacts those hurdles can look a little different. How do two KC-135 drivers with 3000 TT and 1500 PIC turbine seperate themselves in the same stack.. Hint: Never get into the same stack...
