i was wondering if anyone here knew of sunstateaviation and whether they would recommend doing their 7 day accelerated commerical training.

also, they use the "cleared for hire" test prep software/textbooks from cbi/king and was wondering how those were. i already have a jeppessen instrument/commercial textbook (although its from 2000), but don't have any of the syllabus books or the test prep books.

the other alternative was to train at either jones or cirrus at srq. not sure which i am going to do.

once i have done this, i'm going to atp to get my cfi/cfii/mei all at once with their accelerated program.

comments appreciated

ATP doesn't have a strictly commercial training program only. You have to do their Career Pilot program and it costs upwards of 30k....

The way I have it broken down....

comm: $2500 - $2800
multi: $2300
cfi/cfii/mei: $6995

total: ~$12000

Also, I contacted Key Bank about their educational loans, and they have a great loan around prime that has payments that don't start until 6 months after completion of training. So I could do this training, start working as a flight instructor, and not have to pay a dime until 6 months after my last checkride. pretty sweeet.

i would recommend gov't loans over key bank because you can defer them for a real long time. with key bank you're paying at 6 months no matter what. consider this ~
your training takes a little longer than expected and you dont yet have a CFI job...key bank - pay us (you go get a job at Walmart while you're paying your bills and work on your CFI)
gov't loans - defer your loans, forgo the Walmart job, finish your rating and get that CFI with no distractions, then consolidate your gov't loans.

$.02

which govt loans are you talking about...can you point me in the right direction?

you can get federal stafford subsidized and unsubsidized loans. it may limit your flight training options slightly because only certain schools are eligible for them, but all you really need to do is fill out a FAFSA form. google search should take you right to fafsa.gov or fafsa.org.
there should be information on that site which might answer your questions, but if you have more you can PM me & I can go further in depth
