Mini, I have to chime in with all the "Naysayers". While it may look legal to a "real" lawyer (not an FAA lawyer), there are many cases of SOME FAA Inspectors who live by the rule, "IF it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, then it is a duck". In other words, if he thinks it should have been under a 135 certificate, then he will initiate an investigation, and ....well, you fill in the ending.
Roger...

Thanks for the heads ups folks...much appreciated! Sounds like she-go'n-be fixin' tatake the bus...

Oh well...it was worth a shot for some free twin time...

Man, this is being way too complicated. Take grandma, goto the wedding, get drunk, have a blast, fly back (sober). Let grandma give you a $xxx.xx dollar gift certificate on your next birthday, anniversary, or christmas.

Keep it simple. Your situation is a very long way from flying your buddy's buddy to that conference in Houston, TX for $1200.

I'm with you. Fly your grandma to this wedding and don't take a dollar from her. Do it for free and make sure all her passengers know you're doing it for free.

Only she'll know its not for free. Explain the situation to her and make sure she pays you in cash and only much after the trip is over and for something different like helping her do something.

But just remember, you're flying granny and pals on your own dime.

As for what kind of plane.. you've got 100 hrs and change, don't even know if you've got your multi. I don't know what kind of options you have aside from 152/172/172RG?

Cool...thanks for the help folks!

As for the plane...Should have well over 3-400 by the time the wedding comes around (depending on where I instruct it could be more) Hopefully 50-60 multi (again, depending on where I instruct could be more).

Ideally, there'd be 6 altogether (including me) so the 172s are out...she wants something where she wouldn't be cramped up like in a greyhound for hours and hours on end...so something fast. I don't know...I told her (from before) that I wasn't sure there was any way we could do it her way, but if I just take her...we'll see.

Again, thanks for the help guys (and/or gals). Much appreciated!
