The regs say that one of the landings has to be at least 250nm away from the original departure point. Does this leg have to be non-stop? I have already done this flight (which included stops along the way) and I want to make sure that the DE won't send me packing when he goes over my logbook. I also have .2 actual on this flight and noted remarks about IFR conditions along one of the legs. Is this a legal commercial long solo xc?

My instructor is out of town or I would ask him.

The flight can have stops along the way, no minimum distance between points. It doesn't even need to return to the same airport. It also needs to be solo, as in the only person in the plane, no passengers.

Yes. As gsr said, there is no required leg length.

One cross-country flight of not less than 300 nautical miles total distance, with landings at a minimum of three points, one of which is a straight-line distance of at least 250 nautical miles from the original departure point.

Also, notice that, unlike the two required dual flights, the reg does =not= specify that this is a VFR flight, so whether you were in actual 0.2 or 2.0 wouldn't matter.

Thanks for the insight. That is the way I read the regs, but wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything. Two more weeks to go until the checkride and I can't wait. I've been waiting a long time to get to this point. Feels good to finally see light at the end of this long and expensive tunnel.

Any tips on studying for the CFI? Books, lesson plans, etc.

Logging actual IMC on a solo commercial x-country would be legal providing that you are on an IFR flight plan. //
