OH WAY COOL:D :D :D

P-40's, flying through ?manhattan? way cool. got to see this one.

I read that the whole thing was CGI, that the actors were in front of green screens. Too bad. But then I was thinking, imagine if they had decided to film it in a real city, like Chicago. Perhaps the Producer (P:) calls the Mayor (M:)

M:Hello, Mayor Daley speaking.
P:Hey, Mayor, we're doing a movie, and want to shoot parts of it in Chicago.
M:That's great, I'm glad you are doing a movie in our town. How can I help.
P:Well, a lot of it is CGI and minitures, but we have a need to do some live action, chase scenes.
M:Great, I'm a fan of movies, and the police dept will be glad to help. Is this one of those blow up car scenes?
P:No, it's kind of like the John Belushi movie, 1941.
M:Afraid I'm not familiar with that, what does it involve?
P:Well, we have a Citation Jet with a camera in the nose, and a couple of helicopters for the intersection fly-by's and basically it'll involve a P-40 flying down Michigan Avenue at noon, about 30 feet off the ground.

M: (long pause)

M:AIRPLANES OVER CHICAGO!!!!NO (explitive deleted) WAY!!!

Sorry, but the CGI looks a bit cheesy to me.

OK, I suppose I'm a purist. I'm spoiled by Lord of the Rings.

Maybe if they bring back Gollum as SkyCaptain's ace wingman "Sparky"...hmmm...Yeah, that's the ticket!
