Since we are in contract talks and can expect something similar to Comair, I was wondering how your reserve system works.

I've heard it's seniority based, with Crew Sched. starting with inverse seniority for trip assignments, if so do your senior guys bid reserve to max their off time? Also, how does the ready reserve work for you guys? Does it suck, or is it acceptable.

Thanks.

Reserve works based on inverse seniority, although you can bid to fly for the month. This puts you "at the bottom" with the junior guys and supposedly will get you more call outs. When you bid to fly, seniority for you and everyone else who selects this option works top to bottom (i.e. you and I bid to fly...i'm senior to you, then we both go towards the bottom of the list, but i will get called first). Bid to fly is often refered to as "bid to sit ready reserve", though. Some guys love it. I never really saw the difference.

If you're senior and bid reserve, you can get the month off...maybe a couple call outs.

Ready reserve = sit reserve at the airport for no more than 6hrs no more than 6x/mo. You're paid the min daily gaurantee for each ready you sit. If you end up flying 2 hrs, you still get paid 4 and change. If you fly more, you get paid for more.

8 reserve windows A1-A8. They vary in length (14hrs down to just 4hrs) and start time...A1-0000-1400, A8-2000-2400 I think....it's been a while.

Reserve was way worse at Eagle. Most of us hired in the past year and a half only sat reserve for 4-6 months. The schedulers work with you within reason.

Hope that helps.

Wow, thnaks. I can't believe how much better your reserve systems in than ours. We are the schedulers bit.ches, they have absolutely NO guidelines as to who they call or when. If you're on their sh.it list--that's it, they'll short-call you for the worst trips, then extend you.

I REALLY hope we get the same systems as Comair. I'm sure it's not perfect, but it seems to give you a little bit of your life back.

Once again, thanks.
