Ready For This One?

This past week on Tuesday, 8 April, the Comair President (no one remembers his name because he is oh so important) commented on the possible merger of Delta/NWA and it's relationship to impact on Comair.

He said that the the merger would have two possibilities for Comair:

Outcome "A" would be "status quo" with no noticeable changes for Comair.

Outcome "B" would be a slight "bump up" in Comair flying.

He then commented that he foresees NO NEGATIVE OUTCOME for Comair in the Dela/NWA merger.

If you bite on this hook I have some swamp land to sell ... call me.

Funny of the 3 wholy owneds... the only one I see coming out without a scratch (short term) would be Compass.... until they get big enough to sell off.

I heard that too! Sounds a little like that letter that Mesa's MEC just put out to it's pilots. It painted a really bad picture for them and then at the end it said that there is no need for alarm and not to jump ship.

The top half of Comair's pilot group had taken the bait everytime it's been put in front of them. One of these days they are going to see that Management isn't even giving them the courtesy of using a Brass Hook. They just save money by using the old rusty ones from the pioneers.

It wouldn't surprise me to see consolidation of the wholly-owned carriers and then some sort of spin off. We could be looking at anything from merging with Mesaba and/or Compass to outright liquidation.

One thing is for certain; if the music stops this time around and I don't have a chair I'm walking away from this industry. Enough is enough.

For the sake of the folks at Comair, I hope this to be true. Good luck, guys.

Why would there have to be significant changes after a merger? What if everything was pretty much left in place? Some flying will be cut out, more at some carriers than others. And maybe someone will pick up 15 planes from someone else and maybe a contractor might get cut. Thats all. No merger of wholly-owned s. They didn't want it before, they won't want it now.

There are no buyers for Eagle or Comair. Why would they make an even bigger airline (Comair, Mesaba, Compass, merger, etc.) to try to sell.

Liquidate what? All of those "in demand" fifties?

AGONYAIRFO says ...

The significant changes COMAIR employees are concerned about and that the CMR President was referencing was STILL IN BUSINESS vs OUT OF BUSINESS and LOSS OF ALL 50 SEATERS VS KEEPING MOST OF THE PILOT JOBS.

His statements had nothing to do with Comair merging with anyone. It had to do with existence of Comair post-merger.

I think the merger of DL and NW are going to look for overlap in the routes they serve, if it exist, look for them to squeeze every bit of profit they can from those routes.
If a fifty is economical to fly on that route, then its' a fifty, but if its' something bigger, look for that.

Has far as regionals for this new airline, look for some consolidation to take place, I don't see this new airline overlapping manamgement for thier regional network, I think some cuts may be in order. If your flying 50 seaters, you may be getting a bit nervous, I would.

COmair is not going anywhere. It may continue to shrink, it may (does) suck to work here, but it isn't going away. Quit your worrying. It will age you prematurely.

And its very likely they will get sold off......ala Mid Atlantic.....
