I just got called for an interview in a few weeks and a buddy of mine said the cog test was a pain. He could only remember a few of the symbols. Anybody out there remember them? PM if you can.

The symbols were actually pretty easy, only six of them to learn. The trick though is that they pop up twice more during the course of the test, so don't forget them after the first time!

I thought the cog test was fun, in a lame, pong video game sort of way. The hardest test was probably the one where you tap the previously shown number.

Good luck!

I didn't remember any of the symbols after they came up the first time... I start class on Monday.

Relax and just pay attention to the directions.

Ditto on chpplt. I laughed at the evilness of them popping up later in the test too...don't sweat it.

Don't worry about the test. Just listen to the directions. The people that I know of that didn't get hired didn't follow the directions and got upset. Just treat it like a game. I felt like I didn't do good and I have been at Comair for over a year now. I am loving it.

Keep 'em coming! I almost have a secure captains line! :D

there is a way to assoc. the symbols w/ the numbers. Remember to count the lines that make up the symbol.

ex. " / " <------- was the #1
" T " <----------has two sides for #2
"<" <------ sort of looks like a triangle for #3
" I_I " <-------- i cant totally create the symbol for #4, but it looked like a square w/ one side missing

I can't remember the 5

the number six looked like a hexagon.

Use these tips and u should have no problem remembering the symbols. Good luck and have fun w/ it.

That whole thing is about association. Remember the building blocks of learning (FOI). Take learning flows for example; the people in class that always do well always have some silly way of remembering things, I use pictures some people use numbers or phrases. But, the bottom line is the people who do well always associate what they are learning with something they already know. The people who just try to memorize always seem to have problems. They are the ones staying late pulling their hair out on something you and your buddies learned two weeks ago while are at the bar chasing tail.
I was told that they analyze the test results w/ those that have failed out of class and try to draw a correlation.
Remember, every response is timed and measures accuracy, so don't rush be accurate but make it easy on yourself by associating. Also, a hint on that one where you associate a number w/ a pattern learn all but one, it will help your speed. For example if they give you a symbol for the numbers: 1,2,3,4,5,6, associate a pattern for 1-5 and don't even look at the pattern for six. When you see the pattern for 6 you will know because you don't know it. Seriously, it is silly but I found it to greatly increase the speed of your response.
BTW, they have the same test at AMR Eagle, shouldn't be too tough to get an interview there anymore, go over there to get some practice, then come to the comair interview prepared...LOL!
