I

IFLYHI

My flight department operates a BeechJet 400A (Collins 5000 FMS) and a Hawker 850XP (Proline 21). I would like to be able to create routes on a pc, and then either load them into the FMS, or read the routes into the FMS from a floppy disk as we need them. I've talked to Collins, and the person I talked to claimed that this is not possible, but I don't believe that is the case.

Anyone have experience doing this?

I don't think it's possible. As you probably know you can save flight plans in the FMS.

We have a Challenger 300 with the Proline and are using Arinc Direct and are able to file flight plans on Arinc's website and then recall the flight plan in the FMS via the Data Link. That's as close to saving and uploading a flight plan, that I am aware of.

I have both the AMS 4000 from the Beechjet that I use to fly and the 5000 book from the Challenger and it doesn't mention anything about saving and upload flight plans.

On our 800xp we have a floppy disk slot in the cabinet behind the pilot. You can save your flight plans onto a disk and go to index - route menu - disk route and you are there. If you have any other questions pm me.

I just found the reference to saving routes and waypoints in the AMS4000 manual and the AMS5000 manual. It's page 13-5 in the AMS4000 manual if you have it. If not it's pretty straight forward

1. Index page, push the next or previous key as necessary
2. Push the DB DISK OPS line select key to show the DATA BASE DISK OPS page
3. Insert a diskette
4. Push the WRITE RTES or WRITE WPTS lines select key. Follow any instructions on the display to insert additional diskettes if required.

That's all the manual states, and there is no mention of being able to create routes on your PC and uploading. But it might save you some time to save the routes. Let me know if you don't have the manual and I can walk you though it.

I've tried reading routes from a disk that I have copied the flight plans to, and it won't read them from the "disk route" button. The only way I can get it to read the disk is if I reload all the routes into the FMS.

What I'm trying to accomplish is to have a list of routes, that I can create on my pc, and then either load them all into the fms at once, or preferrably read them as needed from the disk. Then I want to save all the same routes in FlightPlan.com to my "stored routes".

I have several copies of the Collins 5000 manual, which are packed away as I'm moving next week. I've read (or heard somewhere) that you can have Collins create a disk that contains company routes (maybe for an airline application?).

I've also heard from someone at a service center that software exists to do what I want.

IFLYHI, you can download the flightplan to a floppy from the computer. If you are using GDC, AirInc or Universal they can help you with the format you have to have in order to download the flightplan to your floppy and then to the aircraft FMS; it can be done. I have done this before, it is quite simple. If you have AFIS, you can also recall the flightplan from it.

Cheers!!

The last a/c that I flew with collins gear was able to have routes uploaded in to it, but I think they get hosed every time you update your database. And that sucks.
