Hey anyone know if where you train is an indication of what plane you are going to be assigned at Colgan?

Nope. The only indication will be when you get the books.

Don't count on it

If you are in Texas, you are more than likely on the Saab.
Virginia, both aircraft
LGA....Beech...

i wanted to ask, what is the chances that a new hire could get houston flying the saab. How long is the upgrade on the saab in houston.

Shiiaat 500hrs and asking about upgrade?????

Yeah, didn't you hear? They're lowering the time required for an ATP due to the tremendous shortage of qualified captains. You MUST not subscribe to Air, Inc.

box

Hey peace, Don't listen to these Di(ks. they fly jets so now they think they have a right to be a$$ holes.

I think the upgrade is about a year to a year and a half from what i understand. I also hear Houston is becoming a senior base so it may be a while.

I think it's possible to be told you are in a saab class on day one, go through your first week of training which is indoc, and then be told at the end of that you will be trained on the beech 1900 instead. I think this has happened in the past here to people. If 8 beech FO's quit the week you go to training this could happen. Aside from that....my guess is if St. Louis or Houston is in your future, I think that means you are on the saab. If you get manassas for training that could be either plane. You may go in with a class of 20 and randomly after indoc half of the class will get the other airplane. Upgrade on the saab in houston would be hard to predict. Depends on how many people are quiting. As of late, a lot have been quiting. Problem is we have been hiring street captains for the saab. This really throws off the predicting process. Who knows how many more they will hire, and who knows how soon these people will quit. If you want the saab as a new hire I'll adive you not to be sporting anything like a cowboy hat, cowboy boots, mouth full of chew, and chaps on the first day of indoc. Let them make their placement decisions, and then after about five days be yourself again. Warning- should they lay these items down on the desk in front of you on day one....well then welcome to the beechcraft cowboy! Enjoy lifting the airstairs, 2 minute turns, no bathroom, and the license to be a mythical hero behind the yoke for 4-5 on, 3 off for your first couple of years here. Late

Probably means the saab but you never know. A lot of people here have "thought" they would get the line they picked, or the base they picked, or the base they were told they would get in the interview, or the per diem they wrote down on the expense sheet, then got "other". Good luck!

whatever you get, just make the most of it and get the maximum out of the place you can. I got 2 type ratings and a sh1tl0ad of pic turbine, so i can't complain too much......except that i haven't got to move on yet!!
