Out of curiousity with all the airlines hiring like crazy how does colgan still get away with asking for a training contract. I know they aren't the only ones but geez 16 grand for a 1900. I would think they should offer hiring bonus instead. Would ALPA change this?

It's not up to ALPA to change. It will change when they can no longer hire people because of it. Unfortunately most pilots seem happy to just sign a training contract then ask how to get out of it, instead of turning down the job offer and letting them know quite clearly that the training contract is the reason.

If everyone who interviewed did just that, I bet it would go away PDQ.

It will probably come to that. Hopefully.
