I came across some large Colgan ads in the DC area military base newspapers saying they were looking for pilots, mechanics and just about everyone associated with flight operations. Looks like they are ramping up for something.

I bet they are just trying to fill all the slots left by people that leave cause that place is the pits. Colgan has ALWAYS been hiring a bunch. When I was there it seemed like as many people quit a week that were in training.

Yeah, Colgan seems to get continually surprised by attrition. It's quite funny actually.

In addition to the usual percentage heading out the door, however, by later this year Colgan is shooting for over 40 Saabs, about the same number of 1900s (currently 11, I think), over 400 pilots, and more of everyone else on the support side.

It's not the company for everyone, but I enjoy it well enough. The pilot group in particular is superb.

They think the attrition is because pilots want to leave the props for jets, but in reality, most leave because they are tired of being screwed over by scheduling and pay.

Come work for free or go fly jets somewhere else.

Hey hugh.............4 MEL's in 6 minutes with time for a piss and a coffee!!!!!!!

heywatchthis, a new player to the colgan threads. Rumor has it he turns into Jeff Gordon when he gets behind the tiller, or so i heard.
If you ever see a saab driving around with dupont logos all over it, pull aside and allow him to go around you, he's got a lead foot. If you don't pull aside he may continue to draft you.

I heard that!!

heywatchthis, already b*tching about pay? You know, I've got you to thank for getting me through ground school. Thanks for everything, you're my boy. At least you got hired in as a street CA, imagine living off 1st-year FO pay. I guess you've got the wife and kids to pay for, so I guess it all just evens out, no?

I miss ya, man. You're a good guy. We're lucky to have you on our side. I hope you get a line soon. Peace out, bro.

How about 50 seat prop flying out of EWR? Now that I've said that, I'll give it ten minutes until the first "ExpressJet offers the most superior product on planet Earth" post. :)

Time's up

Turboprops in EWR

I don't believe the EWR Port Authority allows any carrier to operate turoprops in or out of the airport anymore. I could be wrong but I believe this was one of the many reasons XJT decided not to continue with any turboprop flying at all.

Saw a Chicago Express Saab sitting on the Trajen ramp in IAH. I guess that Colgan is getting more Saab's and it looks like they may be coming to IAH. Oh, and XJT offers the most superior product on planet earth, so you won't be getting any 50 seat flying from us!

do you never get screwed over by scheduling when you fly a Jet? wow! I guess a jet does make everything better.

More saabs, training folks stretched, lots of rumor and inuendo!! Just a normal day.

Just remember, if you have not heard a good rumor lately, just make something up.

hey did you hear that saab 2000's are coming 2 a month until the end of the year.....

Nope, because you check the contract and see that they can't do what they're doing and bingo, you're set. However, if you are junior manned, you are compensated for it. Strange concept HEF, isn't it?

which year?
