Has anyone been called recently for an interview for Colgan? I thought they were just pft now?
Seems like there is alot of bad stuff out there on them.?
Anyone know what the pay is like?

Thanks

Anyone know what the pay is like?

You give them your first years salary up front, and they return it to you in pieces one month at a time... if you're lucky they won't keep some for themselves.

it is true that they are doing a few interviews, not sure if they will be asked to PFT though.

Is Colgan PFT

Curious myself...............There is a new post on climbto350.com stating they are accepting resumes for FO's on the Saab and the 1900. Are these PFT? It does not mention this little item.

It's a pretty simple app process, in fact, you can find it copied below; It all fits on one rectangluar piece of paper, most call it a check. It's only got a few questions on it...

Date: Self Explanatory

Pay to the Order of: Colgan

Dollars: Twenty Thousand and 00/100

Notes: Just and area for your own use

Signature: Your Herbie Hancock

That's it! Send this in and pray you get a call! Good luck in this highly competitive process!

may be the pool of PFT applicants has dried up? I also recall hearing somewhere that the real low time people would no longer be accepted. Some were coming in with plus or minus 400 total time. Not sure if it is fact they are putting limits on the total time for the PFT. There is a saab class going right now in deland...both PFT and upgrades. A memo just came out saying how much the company is bending over.....letting beech captains transition to the saab...they have to train the saab candidate, a new beech captain, and a new beech FO. Are they really taking a hit 3 ways??? The beech FO they are training is actually paying to come here...possibly more then the training costs. How is the company taking it 3 ways?? It sounds like they make money in the deal to me. But i don't have the big picture....unless the PFT is drying up?

What is the purpose of a memo like that? Are they surprised that they have to train pilots to fly their airplanes around?

There are definately some interviews going on down in Deland. Since the interviews are down in Deland and not in Manassas, and since it has been said that ALL future hiring will be through the TAB and RAA programs then I think it is still PFT. Anyways to answer the first question 1st year pay is 20/hr 75 hr guarantee. Only get per diem on overnights or TDY. Since Colgan only does out and backs you might get 30 bucks from perdiem if you have to ferry to a mx base and get stuck overnight. So over the 1st year you pretty much break even with the PFT cost.

The purpose was to let the pilots know that the company appreciates them, and to show it, they offer saab captain transition to the most senior pilots with the most merit. ANd it said a little about the saab transition policy. Then near the end of the memo it said that if a pilot washes out of the transition training...said pilot may not have any job to go back to afterwards. No beech captain slot either. And this is only for "the most senior pilots with the most merit". It is nice that the company allows saab transitions....you get $8 more an hour, bigger airplane, good for your career. I get all that. It is... however.... also nice that beech captains want to go over to the saab, because i would guess the pool of saab FO's in excess of 3000 total time and 1000 + PIC turbine is very shallow. And with all the new hires...i would guess the pool is also shallow of saab FO's meeting the 2500 TT requirement to upgrade. Just an observation. I am sure the whole insurance thing isn't better with beech captains going to the saab. What a nice way to keep the pilot group wrapped around managements finger.....dangling that carrot in front of us at all times....possible transition for beech captains, possible upgrade for beech FO's....all based on merit of course. I am happy to be with a company that is expanding, changing for the better....but lets keep it known that both sides are surely benifiting here, not just the pilots.

Do you actually believe this crap??? The company couldn't give a rats ass about any of you, nor does it have anything to do with merit. IF merit was a key factor is Tom's choice for the transition, how do you explain the guy who had two missed trips the two months previous to his transition? Merit is just a word they like to put on memos and say on the conference calls to scare the new guys.

This kind of info really points out why unions are necessary in this business.

No way!!!

Are you kidding me? Colgan has a great reputation! Actually as a model of fiscal efficiency, there is no rival... For example:

1. They're yielding huge amounts of interest on their accounts payable because they take an extra six months to pay their obligations. This is the same as receiving a four to ten percent discount on everything you purchase, including Jet-A and payroll (per diem)! What a great money making idea!
2. They're able to cut some costs all together simply by conducting a random audit and making up a reason to defer or dispute over guarantee pay! Hey, it's like finding a twenty in the laundry, and we all know how great that feels!
3. The return on the product is the highest the industry has ever seen... For example, take your initial capital requirement to buy an airplane. Well, heck, we'll just get a couple of those from auction at about half of the actual market value, so straight away we've just doubled our money! Our most imposing cost here is the dough it's gonna take to speedtape the important parts and the cash payouts to the POI for turning his head when we repeatedly violate FARs! Golly, we're doing pretty darn well up to this point, aren't we?!
4. Next, the company will intimidate aircrew members mafioso style with threats of career kneecapping, except they call this "upgrade by merit"... This is a great way to ensure that your return is as high as possible. Trust me, you don't want to get a little visit from "Vinny" the Assistant Chief Pilot... She has a way of taking care of business- and yours.

So, there you have it. Business according to Colgan... Good luck, and please don't forget to include your driver's license number on that check.

Regards all,
Jason

Good luck senators recieve campagin funding from unions... Food for thought

Wah?

Rumor has it we may do some hiring sans PFT in the near future. Anyone heard that one? That would be a nice step in the right direction.

If they did that, JR. would have to close down the food court at the house.. They need the money.. can't see it happening.
