I tried a search on this but couldn't find concrete answers. I have a buddy who got a call from Colgan and was asked to interview. Trying to help him out a bit. Just a few questions about Colgan:

He said they are not doing the PFT thing anymore, just a training bond. Any truth to that? Do they pay you during training (if not pft anymore) Where is the training done and where do people stay during training? With no 121 time, would you start with Colgan?

Hope the questions don't make me sound like a jacka$$ but I appreciate any help you guys/gals can give. Thanks-

Mongo

Colgan was my first 121 job. Just got out of it a few months ago after being there for around a year and half. Anyways Ive been gone for a while but I do know that they are NOT PFT anymore. As of like a month ago at least. I still have a bunch of buddies that work there and there is a whole bunch of info on them on this board. Training for the Beech is done in Manassas, and I heard that the Saab training was done in Deland last month, but who knows cause that doesn't make a whole bunch of sense. As far as working there it is full of its problems. If you think your buddies could put up with that kind of stuff then who knows. Anyways you will get all kinds of examples. When I trained there it was a 12 month contract. If you left early you paid 1000 per month. IE leave after 6 mo you owe 6000 bucks. Stayed in the hotel at Manassas, it was the Farifeild Inn, then sim training in LGA stayed at the Clarion. If I coulda only found a way to ride my roller bag down those halls it woulda been more fun :) Its been awhile but I think the pay was 50 bucks per day. I don't know how they do it now, but thats what mine was a year and a half ago.

Hahaha...:D Ain't that the truth! One day I want to meet the insane f ucker that designed that hotel. Dragging a fully loaded overnight bag up that incline is a CHORE!

I know in the last class that went through training, they are complete now and online, 7 out of 8 Paid. The 7 that paid were from TAB and Regional academy. There are 2 classes right now for the Beech and SAAB. Who knows if they are pft??. My guess is, if there are tab pilots that want to pay 18K for a job, colgan will take the money. But i do know that they are hiring pilots that aren't pft. Of course with a bond!!
They pay during training, dont ask me how much!
I think the traing for the Beech is LGA, you stay at the clarion.
SAAB? most likely STL at the doubletree or holiday inn. that could change.
