Do a search dude... and then assume that only 1/2 of the crap said is true. Then run the FUC K away as fast as you can!!!!!!!!!!

Why the hel! do you want to give some fly-by-night backwards company your hard earned money?

BTW... I've heard from a "very reliable" source that company is being sold and 2/3 of the pilot group will be transitioned to ground crew.. Do you want to pay 18K to be trained on tossing bags??

Colgan is just a stepping stone...think of it as nothing more than that! It's not worth the money you're gonna dish out. Sure, it sounds great to fly a turboprop, wear the uniform, and say you're an "airline pilot."

There is no management...how do they excpct to know where thie airplanes are if they can't even find the crew van for you to drive from HEF to CHO just to fly to LGA and back? I've logged more time driving that white van than flying the airplane...be prepared to not get paid...watch your back, because no one else is gonna do it for you. I declined upgrade because I don't want to be pushed around as a captain wondering which reg the company's having me violate. It's just not worth it.

Unless your last name has Colgan related to it, then be prepared to bend over, squeel like a pig, and take the abuse. Don't forget to kiss some BIG wide cheeks also.

It's just a stepping stone.....

be prepared to not get paid...

This is so true... They refuse to have an automated pay system, and then continually dock your pay sheet. When you call and ask for an auditied copy of your sheet to see why they FuKed you out of 20 hours of pay, they never return the call.

They act like paying you accurately is taking food from their mouths..

Stepping Stone to where? All you can hope for is a lateral move and loss of senority. Last I checked, no majors are hiring. The ones that are have a pool the size of Lake Erie.

A stepping stone to Where?

A stepping stone to Where?

A stepping stone to a violation...

If you're going to pay a load of cash to fly somewhere, at least do it at a company that has a few work rules.

A few things to note about Colan Air.

1) Senority means nothing. Upgrades are not done in seniority order, even if you meet the posted minumums of the day. It was stated by our CP a few weeks ago that refusing to work on a day off will disqualify you for upgrade. They will simply pass right on over you.
2) As mentioned above, getting your paycheck is always a crapshoot. Will it be there at all, and if it is, will the amount be correct? Chances are good the answer to one of those questions will be NO.. Then, when you call the payroll department (1 person), you find out that she is always on vacation on payday.
3) Every day you show up to work you will have to ask yourself if the airplane is airworthy. Flip a coin on this one. The maintenance department does all they can do to keep the airplanes flying, but when you have to replace broken parts with parts that have been remade by the "Colgan" instrument shot, the new part becomes a broken part very quickly.
4) Again, as mentioned above... Always watch your back. Do not trust scheduling or dispatch when they tell you it's legal to go.. They are lying and are just concerned with completion factor.
5) Run, run away!!!!

hay

Hay i thought you were gunho on these guys.

What gives, i have a buddy that is flying for them, that put up that kind of money wounder if he will like throwing bags,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Chperplt...............Sounds Like a big accident waiting to happen!!!

Chper speaks the truth!

I think we've all been there... Paycheckless that is. And it's true, when you call the payroll broad, she's nowhere to be found. When you finally get her on the phone, YOU'RE the schmuck for bothering her!
I have to say though, my favorite was the Assistant Chief Pilot's comment: "If I were you, I would just be grateful I have an airline job! I've got 200 other pilots who think their problems are important too!"
The sad thing is, this place has no idea how much talent they have working for them. Everybody from the ramp, to the cockpit is indeed a great group, and it's just a ding-dang shame to see them so shat on.
Yup, so there you have it... If you can survive on Saab pretzels and Cranapple juice while people pretend to give a **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED**e about your misplaced paycheck, can take positively criminal abuse after working your arse off to get that big degree, and don't mind overnighting in cities where they don't even find you a hotel room, then this IS the place for you.
PM me if you need any more particulars... You wont get bias, you'll get the truth.
Regards all,
Jason

Maybe its time we get together and get the big U in here.
If we don't try to make this a better place for us as well as for the newcomers, we only have ourselfs to blame at the end...

Actually, That's nicely put! You're right. However, any sort of talk about the big U will most certainly result in your instant line check. At this point you'll call for flaps a mere 2.7 seconds later than you should have, and you'll be gotten rid of... Get it? Than the world will know via the PRIA that you've been fired for being a crappy pilot when in reality you only wanted to have better working conditions. You can't put a scenario like this past these folks. The family has ways of dealing with people seeking happiness.

Sorry to hear Guys! As useless as I always thought that it was, it was a nice thing to have, at least to get some sort of work rules.
Has it been tried? It was my impression someone just had to call a union, ALPA, or someone else and then they came in and handed out the ballots to the pilots. I'm sure an email to them wouldn't hurt. I wish you the best!!!

been tried and failed. Not only does the guy not work for Colgan anymore but he has a failed check ride on his record. You wont find many people willing to try again... Ive heard the senator has said hed shut down the airline before he allowed a union in his airline.

I heard that...
as for Senetor Colgan closing its doors if the union comes in!!!???
What do you think all Colgans that work there now would do?
The last company I worked for, we had the same problem and the old man sent out a letter stating that he had enough money and didn't need the trouble with union. At the end the union got in.
