Well, here goes....

On Monday there will be a "big" annoucement within the company. Im not sure what it is but I was informed that there was going to be a big annoucement this monday. I have some bad feelings about this... I do know it doesnt envolve any furloughs which is a little upsetting because I want to be furloughed from Colgan, but you can't get everything you want now can you??? Just thought I would share the news with you all see if anyone had any idea what the news of the impending doom was.

Talk to you all later

Bubbles

I heard through the grape vine that the company is going to come out with a christmas CD and that they would be payroll deducting the $18,000 cost from each employees paycheck.

If I had a quarter for every time I heard that there was going to be "BIG" announcement, I could retire. Don't hold your breath.

No, no there really is a big annoucement and I dont think its positive.

It's not going to be positive.. They are going to be announcing my switching to the dark side.... and they are afraid. I know too much!!:D

Is it Brazillian BBQ night???

i thought it was just going to address the rumor that they are planning to add serveral more Saabs next year, and eventually phase out the Beech. i heard no more hiring classes, just transitions....anyone else hearing that?

OOooo...

Another BIG anouncement. Just like the last one!! Can't wait.
If it does come, it couldn't be all that negative with the upgrades they have planed and all the PPV's moving in.

We'll see:eek:

Let's see... Give up 18 grand per new FO or fork over Colgan family Christmas bonus money to cover training costs... You do the math.

You work for some of the cheapest, penny pinching fools on the planet. People who have no respect for their employees, or for the industry they are in.

Do you for a second think that they give one sh!t about you? If they do announce new Saabs, watch as they hire off the street captains before they transition much more. The average seniority for transition is 4th year.. That's an extra $800 a month in guarantee alone.. A couple more times and Jr. won't be able to pay his mortgage.. They may actually have to close the food court down and bring back the .99 cent Whopper

Let's for one-second put ourselves in the imaginary world of Super Dave Osbourn.. In Super Dave's world the Colgan family actually does give a crap about their employees, and the safety of their airline. IF we are in "that" world, do you think captains would get ripped a new asshole every time they wrote something up?? Here's an even better one... IF they gave a sh!t about the safety of their crewmembers, or how about the paying passengers, do you think when you call your dispatcher (with the exception of one) and ask about the CB from he!! you saw on the way in, they would say the radar looks clear.. here's your release.. Do you think that if they cared about the safety of their airline, they would have fired an FO for voicing his concerns about the safety of the fleet????

The way I look at it, the Super Dave world is pretty close to reality.. except that there's never a line at the buffet.

Ok.. 6 day old head cold induced rant is over... for now

I just heard from a "very reliable" source that Colan Air has decided to sell the airline to Boston Maine Airways (BMA)..

The deal as I understand it is this..The Saabs will be going back and all Saab pilots will be furloughed. The senior 6 Beech Captains will be moved over to J31 FO. The rest of the Beech Captains will be offered ramp positions within the new company at the various outstations. The senior Beech FOs will be offered aircraft security sweeper positions. The newer PFT FOs will be let go with the understanding that they can PFT again for the new company.

As the Super Dave Osborne paint scheme is "super sweet", BMA will paint all aircraft in this new, old paint scheme.

This announcement is scheduled for 1pm on Monday in HEF, but may be pushed back a few minutes if the line at the old town buffet is too long.

Again, this info is from a "reliable source" and may not be completely accurate.....

chperplt, you forgot the part about BMA operating 20 of the 727s under the US Airways banner. They'll be based out of DCA, overlapping I Air's route structure. Mark my words...

I heard that the new business plan allows for Colgan to sell the gates in overlaping markets to I Air.

Does that mean I will work for I Air or BMA??

My "reliable source" tells me that you will not be offered a position with either "I Air" or "BMA". I'm told that you will be furloughed without recall rights. BUT.. You have to train all the transitioning people on SABRE first.

BUT.. You have to train all the transitioning people on SABRE first.

How can I train them if I have never been trained?? If I offer to pay for my training can I switch over??

No it hasnt been an issue ever before. I just thought maybe...

I heard we are getting 30 more SAABS. Unfortuneatly they will be of the 900 Turbo variety(much cheaper to lease than a 340 or 1900),and we will have to pay for our own CDL training.

So - does anyone know what the "big news" is? I never know anything except for what I learn here.

The information tab on the website still says we'll be opening up SHD in May. Good to know...

Yea the annoucement was that US Airways has asked us to bend over becuase they want to see how far up out a$$es they can stick us. Sorry that was totally out of my character. Anyway the annoucment was just to tell us about the new term pass "priledges" that we are being granted by US Airways (my favorite part of the memo was how nice they made us getting screwed over... well its a tie between that and the little note at the bottom that told us to budget accordingly) not only are they service charge but we have to pay the taxes too... (Just to let you know, we did the math and a BOS-LAS ticket will now cost you about $120) better get those jumpseat forms ready.

Woah there killer I might have to tell Charlie to calm you down haha. Yeah that pretty much sucks but I dont think thats the real "big anouncement" though. I will be getting writers cramp from filling out those j/s forms but that will only last until I can get that stamp made..haha Maybe the big announcement will be that there is no big announcement. hmmmm. The only thing Im worried about is that from what Ive heard is that most big announcements are not good.

The BIG news!!!

Take your pick from the rumour mill. It has been working faster than ever.

1. Sold to Mesa. (I like this one it seems out there!)
2. C models gone early in the year, replaced by saab B models
3. 5 B model saabs coming soon.
4. Pay raise (substantial)
5. Jets!!!(probably just models though)
6. All saab fleet apart from a few 1900 for eas
7. Insert your own rumour here

;) :D
