Heard from a buddy of mine at Colgan that they are getting contracts to fly the Q400's from Continental. Is there any truth to this??

Colgan has submitted a RFP for the Q400 flying, as have other carriers. The big hurdle is that Bombardier wants a substantial down payment that no one wants to front.

PDT is getting sold to CO and we're gonna take over the 400 flying, and then maybe if salisbury feels like it, the rest of the industrialized world...or not at all...

Personally, I'll believe it when I see it. I don't think that the Colgan family has either the venture capital required to front the money nor do they have any desire to go public and loose control over the day-to-day operation.
Would it be a good idea for the long-term future of the company. Absolutely. However, I think any growth is going to be for the minimum $$$ required. The company already operates on a shoestring as it is and I don't see that changing.

I head something I should have not today and it is true we are getting the Q400's 6 to start more likely. Starting possibly in feb 2007. I heard ops kick off march 4th. I also happen to hear they will hire into it for FO's and Obviously use the captains we have to go get rated in it.

Q400s at Colgan??? You mean a brand-spanking-new, state-of-the-art, MEL-free turboprop at Colgan? I think I missed something....Colgan has a niche- operating low-cost turboprops that have some mileage on them. (Personally, I like my 6-pack-equipped, Hemi-powered Saab.) As sick as a Q400 would be, I don't see it happening. I think Van Halen will tour again with David Lee Roth before a Q400 shows up in Manassas.

In a related story (no B/S), I saw Lionel Ritchie yesterday at IAD (A gates). I wanted to high-five him for actually paying money to put up with the charade that is United Express IAD. I didn't get the chance to ask him if he'd be interested in chartering one of our "A" models for his next set of shows.

You could put his little skinny kid in the overhead with no weight penalty! She weights less than the dog I had in R1 last night.
